Which line of Transformers do you collect and why?

Recommended Posts

I don't follow a particular line, but I buy what I can based on what seems to be a better quality figure for that particular line. Most of the stuff I get are Deluxes with a few Voyagers here and there. I do have a Leader Animated Megatron, and ROTF Skystalker is the only Scout I have to date (gotta go with Mindwipe, after all!) I try not to get more than one figure with either 1) the same name or 2) the same mold. I started collecting again with the 2007 movie, and have progressed to Animated and ROTF, though I do long for some of the older figures. Unfortunately, budget and space limits do apply. :D

I collect mostly Classics/Universe, Masterpiece, Animated and Movie. I do have a few G1 originals and re-issues, but they aren't at the top of my collecting list.

Ohh, and ANY Robot Heroes. Love those little guys.

I started w/ the Alternators, and 20th Anni Prime, and then I grabbed up all of the Cl line before the 07 movie line, and then the Universe line in 08. I really haven't bought ANY TFs since January of last year. I almost bought the MP Skywarp, but I just couldn't justify $60 for a repaint of a figure I got 2 or 3 years ago. The reason why I haven't bought any TFs is because well I really just don't like the movie look in figures. It looks good for the most part on screen but I just can't stand the way the toys look.

Masterpiece: I love high-end stuff with die-cast (1 per mold/type of of mold)

Binaltech: ditto

Alternity: tritto

Alternators: only when the mold didn't exist for Binaltech

Animated: my new G1 (all of them, including the kidsy stuff)

Movie: love the complex alien-ish designs (all of them, including the kidsy stuff)

Optimus Prime: all of them, my favorite character

Megatron/Galvatron: all of them, my favorite villain

Starscream: some of them, my 2nd favorite villain

Huge Transformers: Cheetor, Brave Maximus, Primus, Unicron

Figures that combine with Optimus Prime or Megatron

3rd party accessories/bots: for their uniqueness/how they complete my existing figures

Marvel/Star Wars Crossovers: some of them, usually the most well-known characters

I mainly collect Classic/Universe.Cant go wrong with a updated G1 line.

Other then that....they have to grab my attention.

I got back into collecting Transformers when saw TRU release the Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus Commemoratives. Then I got hooked into the Takara "Books" with Jazz, Prowl, Smokescreen and Megs (other than Megatron I never had any of these as a kid.) That put me into Ebaying some of the other older figures I missed out on from G1. Then RID came out and I had the complete line of that which I sold a few years back. Then got into Armada which I actually kind of liked but for some reason it sizzled out really quick and wasn't on store shelves anymore (never saw Tidal Wave on my shelves). Got away from collecting anything at all but G1 but then it got funny. When the classics line came out I originally bought them as Christmas gifts for my 4 year old son at the time as he was just starting to get into Transformers from watching the DVD's with me. Then when I got a chance to get them out the package I literally said "these things are the :awsum" and went out and bought my own set. Got into Henkei because I waited so long and missed out on the original Classics Megs and had to pick up the Henkei one. I've collected Animated and ROTF (didn't really do much from 2007 movie) but nothing has floored me like the Classics line. Looking forward to Generations obviously. :ohyeah
