Which line of Transformers do you collect and why?

Recommended Posts

The line of transformers i collect is Revenge of the Fallen. I collect ROTF for multiple reason. First is that it's the easiest to get. Go to stores like Target, Walmart, and when u see the transformer section, it's ROTF. Another reason is because is the figures in that line look REALLY good. Figures like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Starscream, ETC, they like really good in robot and vehicle mode. Another reason is that i seen the transformer movies the most, so it's the one i want to get. I really love ROTF, i look forward new figures to the toy-line, redeco or not.

To coin a Pokeymon Phrase

"Gotta Catch them All"

I collect all the lines. My favorite is beast wars. The only stuff I never seem to get is legends and the kid stuff. I don't get too much Japanese stuff due to their price.

I agree with Cybcouncil, I don't get many of the kids stuff or the smaller figures, though I have a few minicons and one legends.

I have a lot of Classics/Universe/Henkei!, Animated, Movie/ROTF, and Beast Wars. I've got some Beast Machines, Energon, Cybertron, Crossovers, RiD, and Armada Unicron. I only have about ten Legends figures total, only three of which don't combine. And two Activators. And two Alternators. Basically the only things I don't collect are the FABs, RPMs, stuff that doesn't transform, Role Play, and third party items. Well, I'd like to, starting with Warbot Defender (Springer), Crossfire Explorer (Blast Off), and Crossfire Munitioneer (Swindle)

im almost considering buying almost exclusively third party items from now on, with a select few from hasbro. their pocket is the ballot box, and my dollar is the vote!

I collect anything that is GOOD. A Transformers show/movie doesnt dictate which lines I buy figures from. I buy them just based on the merits of the figure in question.

Case in point: I hate ROTF with a fiery rage that will someday soon encompass the Earth in blinding white fire, cleansing it of all ROTF abominations. Thats how I feel about the movie. I really like some of the figures tho so I buy them.

However if a show is really good, then I might buy a terrible figure just to represent a character I really like. Another case in point: I love Rhinox, but all of his figures are miserable.

Good question! I actually went through a phase when I was collecting just about any series that came out. I've decided to cut back since I realized I'm ending up with many different versions of the same character...and I'm running out of storage space!

Like I've said in another thread, I'm mainly in this for the nostalgia, so anything G1 inspired usually appeals to me, so the main series I've been collecting lately are Classics/Universe.

I've decided (for the reasons stated above) to not collect any of the new series aimed mainly at kids. I didn't buy a single Animated figure (I thought they looked good, though.) If they do a toy line for "Prime" I won't be collecting that, either.

From regular retail I think since the Transmetals concerning regular class figures (Scout through Leader) I've only passed on 1 figure. That being TF2 Demolisher.

That doesn't mean I kept every figure, NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I sold off most of my Animated stuff, about half of Universe 2.0 is gone, as well as other bits here and there.

Since AEC the Ultimate/Supreme class has done nothing for me, so I haven't even been tempted to spend the money (well I did try and quickly sell Ultimate BB when it hit $35).

Otherwise I just love trying new molds. Some have been suprizing, others very disapointing.

Either way I just love giving new molds a try.

1) G1 - 1984 complete and 1985 just the ones I liked.

2) Binaltek/takara - 100% complete

3) Masterpiece/takara - 100% complete (plus the Hasbro Jets)

4) Movie TFers - 2007 complete from the movie; 2009 (leader classes only)

5) WST dinobots - 100% complete (simply cause i love the dinobots)

Mainstream:

- Red blue Optimus Prime, with decent articulation. I'm not really into brickformers.. But I skipped Armada and Energon.. Still thinking, should I go to 3rd party products, like mini MP-1 and choo choo prime?

Subsstream:

- Any Transformers I like, Binaltech, Henkei, Alternity, Masterpiece (yess Skywarp looks best of the seekers)

Transformers is pretty costly, so I limit my self to what I really like... :roll (I wish I could collect full set of Binaltech)
