MY SISTER SAID IF I GET ONE MILLION FANS SHE WILL NAME HER BABY MEGATRON

how is enjoying my time and indulging in the lighter parts of life wasting it?

With as serious as I have to be, I'm actualy happy that I'm not jaded enough so I still sit down and laugh without worring about a stick up my ass during my down time.

I can be just as hate filled and cynical as anyone else. I'm good at it!

I just don't see the point in it being a constant. Stop and smell the roses, since that keeps my angst at less then constant, I don't see it as a waste of time.

Here's an example. I went outside and saw the first wild spring flower in my yard today. I was excited cause I love spring. I went to get my camera and right a little blurb to my friends about it...

Before I could, my dog ate the flower and peed on the remains of the plant.

I could have been disapointed and upset, but it was just easier to laugh about it, which actualy made it a better story for everyone :)

My point, enjoying the enjoyable no matter where you find it when you can is never a waste of time

Sorry, like chain letters and spam, douchey facebook join ups are not "the roses".

I can find fun in anything I do, even a boring job.

But I will NEVER join facebook, twitter anything in my lifetime or text anyone on a phone.

I have a life and it's not measured by how many fake "friends" I have that I'll never meet.

Which has nothing at all to do with giving a baby a sweet name like Megatron :tfevil

I don't have a single friend that I don't know in person.

I will admit people take these sites overboard, but when your friends and family start to spread across the country, and even the world, it's a very easy way to keep in touch.

It's funny, you bring up fake friends. I gotta ask, how is this site any different?

It's the same people here all the time, most have a sense of comradery, but in truth I only ever met 1 person from here...

So I'm just wondering how that fit's in with your logic :P

I checked my FB this morning, saw my new nepher in NC stand for the first time and in the same shot heard that my brother is flying in from Vegas soon to see him, so I'm joining that trip.

Also found out that my sister's home renovations are coming along just fine, along with a head count of who's gonna be at the house warming party when all's said and done.

Then I found out that my dear friend Cathy wants to have me over for dinner tonight.

And of course pictures of people having fun, and hating work, and a story about my little cousin's new kitten...

There's nothing fake about any of that. It's just a good way to stay in touch with my friends and family all in one shot

In your opinion...

Fun is where you find it. Take the wreckers book. I found the first issue, I didn't like it. That doesn't mean your wrong for liking it, and it would only take me down a peg if I continued with pointless biligerence about how much I didn't like the book as well as aply that attitude to every one who did.

Nah, I can just move one and enjoy something else. No need to get hung up on douchbaggery.

:agree with the last two posts....and another thing....some of you guys are serious buzzkills....why not either enjoy it...or hate it and keep the hate to yourself..no sense in spreading senseless negativity....honestly...i said it in another thread..and ill say it here...all the negativity is really starting to make me rethink posting on the boards..

Yeah, and you could have done all that w/o facebook. It's been happening for thousands of years. And you can look at pictures of a mountain all day but that doesn't replace climbing it.

I'm not talking about real friends, I'm talking about the hundreds of people that some people have listed as their friends that they will never meet or hardly ever "talk" to.

Sure, here my words get to hundreds of people if they read what I have to share but I only count a handful as real friends. Quality not quantity :yay

that is true, but still, it does make it easier.

Lets say we go back to basics though, smoke signals and carrier pigeons :P

And you need to lighten up yourself.

I wasn't being negative about anyone. I think naming someone after a toy is cool as hell, but I'm not going to do something I dislike just to help someone (who obviously doesn't want to do bad enough) make up their mind.

I was just voicing my opinion. Never said it was a stupid thing to do, and didn't get down on anyone for it.

And so far it doesn't sound like I was making my point clear enough.

:agree

1000%, I'm sure it does. I just don't like the way it's changing the world in other ways.

MMMmmmmm Pigeons :drool

I wouldn't say it's changing the world in any way than the internet already has. The same complaint could go towards blogs networks, myspace, or even chat rooms. Or hey, how many people actually knew their old school pen pal?

I can at least say the majority of people I have friend-ed are people I actually know in RL, with the others being acquaintances or the odd celebrity. The majority of folks with billions of friends on their list are usually not worth taking seriously. You know, like that person you occasionally meet that happens to know everybody on the planet?
