20th Anniversary Megatron?

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the boards :tfgrin

If he resembled his G1 RM, maybe....

Its a great idea, but don't see it happening. MP is for cartoon acc so tank mode is a big no no :tfsad

A MP G-1 Megatron would be great, but I for one seriously doubt it. Hasbro wouldn't make it for simple US laws and for Takara to design this thing from scratch by themselves and for sale only in Japan (and through Internet) would probably be too expensive. (They didn't have to (re)design the G-1 reissue, so that was feasable for a limited market.)

I don't think size is really that much of a problem, though. If they make the legs the same size as Prime's and use one leg to form the front of the handle, while the other forms the back, you get a handle which is not really too large.

It's possible, but still I don't see it happening. :tfsad Maybe they should make it another type of (larger) gun.

If not Megatron, then who...?

Well, I'm hoping for a goodlooking Rodimus Prime (the original was just too small). Judgin by the size of the matrix, Rodimus would be much larger than a Binaltech/Alternator figure.

Starscream would also be very nice, especially if indeed there will be no jets in BT/Alt. :thumb

And what about Skyfire? :clap :clap

:drool :drool

Got to learn to type one of these days. It should of course read:

Judging by the size of the matrix, Rodimus wouldN'T be much larger than the Binaltech/Alternator figures.

why don't they make a tank megatron that transforms in to a g1 looking robot megatron?

You mean, like the G2 tank did?

MP is supposed to be a "cartoon/comic-accurate" rendition of G1 characters.

While there -was- a G2 comic in which the tank Megs appeared, that wouldn't be G1-accurate, would it? ;)

Well, to make the most sense, Optimus Prime was released as the 20th anniversary figure, 1984-2004. Next year is 2005.... 20th anniversary of the movie, let alone the year the movie was to take place. Logically it would make sense that Rodimus Prime would be the next release, as well as Galvatron, if they decided to market two new Masterpieces. Now, hopes for Rodimus, is they include his welder attachment, his sawblade attachment, his rifle(s), and his 'energon' sword and flame shield he was shown with in the movie. And Galvatron would also be a logical step as Gen1 Megatron probably won't be made for masterpiece, because of the idiotic gun laws. Takara won't make a Masterpiece Megs because of the cost involved. Masterpiece Prime was a joint design effort between Hasbro and Takara, and due to the costs involved in development of a toy this scale, Takara wouldn't do it on their own without the US Market. Galvatron therefore would make the most sense in his place, as next year would mark the timeline "birth" of Galvatron, and the good guys need their arch-nemesis. Once the major leaders are done and out of the way, then we can see about releasing other characters in the masterpiece line that won't be getting the BT/Alternator treatment.

Personally, I would like to see an MP Galvatron accurate to the DreamWave ones in the Armada comics. Because as I remember when Prime was revived in The Return of Optimus Prime, he fought with and against Galvatron. So that scene would still work if he was next. Galvatron could be done. Hell they made a perfect transform of Prime with all the right proportions for all modes.

Another figure that would still fit with the G1 MP Prime is G2 Megatron. Prime looks the same in the G2 comics so he works just as well with Megatron as Galvatron to Prime.

I know I would buy an MP of Megatron or Galvatron. What about u all?

Here's an idea: If MP megatron HAD to be a gun, simply change the TYPE of gun, that's all. (A desert eagle comes to mind, sizewise). As it stands, no one would throw a fit about Shockwave, so Megatron could be some future type of firearm. ( Imagine: a fusion sidearm!)

*cue twisted idea*

well... why not use the concept we saw in battlestars then... super megatron... change up the weaponry a bit... change the scope into that huge nose/barrel for the jet, and I'd say you'd have a decent subject for a masterpiece megatron... have the cannon be detachable, same with the wings, go witht he original head design, and include the scope for robot mode's fusion cannon if desired.

My simple solution is a two-part plan:

1) ALTERNATOR Megatron. M-1 Abrams (or German Panzer) tank in grey or urban camou colors with robot mode strongly reminiscent of G1. Scaled to MPOP. Hand can hold MPOP's Megatron gun. Arm-mounted (not shoulder-mounted) fusion cannon, morningstar weapon, and beam sword.

2) 20th Anniversary/Masterpiece Grimlock. The ultimate 'wild card', an improved, more detailed take on the classic cartoon design, like MPOP. includes reversible faction symbol, energo-sword and double-barreled rifle. Scaled to MPOP in robot mode. Perfect for fighting with Optimus OR Megatron!
