Masterpeice Skywarp on SALE!!!

Recommended Posts

I was wandering around Walmart in Midlothian, TX last night doing some "grocery shopping" (thats what I told my wife) and I came across a load of Masterpeice Skywarps on the clearence isle for $20.00 each. So, if anyone in the DFW area is looking for one at a reasonable price, there ya go!

Kinda weird how sporadic the pricing is. I've seen a few Wallies in Central California with MP Skywarp on clearance, but they only chopped it down to $30.

On a separate note, the Target exclusive Fiery Fallen is all over the board. Sampling 4 stores in my area:

1) Still at $21.99

1) $15.99 clearance

1) $13.99 clearance

1) $10.99 clearance

Why does this mold have to be so disappointing? I want my $20 back, but I'm not so much of a douche bag to return it after doing the hip/leg mod.

What mod is that? For the MP jet mold?

My brother, who never cares about my collection, called me and asked if I was still looking for Skywarp cause he found it for $30

I figure 1 more can't hurt. He even told me he was dropping it off, so I wonder what he needs!?!

for a starter... 30 bucks. LOL

I have a bit of a concern, that the "Masterpiece" line is not going to hold much of it's reputation, if it's pieces keep getting value hit so hard. They have been soaking in the profits with repaints, but I have a sinking suspicion it's going to hurt the entire line before long. Remember when Magnus had increased and value, and it's average cost was $350-$400. Then they release it, back to under $100, and now they are dime dozen and not worth more than the excess stock that sits in online stores storage. Now a new release, can't even hold it's retail value and is already cut 50%. Doesn't speak well for the line, imho.

I don't waste my time worrying about a figures potential value. The biggest value anyone should get in any figure is the personal value to ones self and not any potential future profit. Now I know, I'd like to know that at worst my figures will retain a fair value should I ever have to sell my collection, but that's not something I dwell on.

Given enough years out of release then just about any really good figure will have a decent market value so long as the collectors market for TF's remains strong. It may not be astronomically high, but most likely well beyond it's shelf price.

We've seen lots of figures over the years that for awhile it appeared stores couldn't give away and now they're selling for double the original retail price.

Masterpiece figures are no different. Times are tough all over financially right now so a lot of this stuff is still circulating out there. In a few years who knows. A lot of this stuff could be well gone from most places, not being produced anymore and any MP figure could be worth an important body organ or two. You just never know what will happen next in this crazy world.

I don't know about that. I remember DVD Prime was a huge shelf warmer for almost 2 years. I can't blame a store for net wanting to get stuck with that again and just blasting out their inventory.

Sure the price may drop, and hey good for us. Just wait till they're gone, those prices will go right back up.

I collect TFers for me, and they are not an investment vehicle by any stretch of the imagination. That is what real estate is for (for me). But as a displayer, I do find pleasure and enjoy the values of my collection go up. Not because it makes me want to profit, just because I like knowing they are worth more. Think of it as a piece of art - a remrant that you purchase and hang on your wall. It is enjoyed for it's art, but it doesn't hurt when it keeps it's value and actually goes up as well. I just happen to enjoy appreciating assetts more than depreciating ones. :) I hear you about the financial times; and not knowing what things will be like in the future. Again, none of my decisions are made with such things in mind. I do not purchase TFers that I think will go up in value or with any such values in mind - i'm a bit of a completist on certain series. I just get a bit more pleasure from knowing they go up when they do. I love my MP Magnus the same - but I enjoyed knowing it was worth almost $400 a bit more than I do know with it's rerelease, and it only being worth $90 now. Just my own personal querkiness, as a display collector.
