Random Blasts From The Past

Recommended Posts

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a topic like this gain a spot in the sticky threads, anyway...

We spend so much time talking about what's new and what's coming that there is so much in the past we seem to be forgetting more and more. I thought we may take a little time, perhaps each day each week or whatever, to appreciate that which has come before.

Pick a random figure from your collection, preferably something that you either have in storage or on a shelf that hasn't been touched in who knows how long, and rediscover it so to speak. Remember what it was like when you first got it and talk about any old vs. new views you might have or whatever. Talk about anything you want about it.

Perhaps this could be a cool little way to keep the past alive and give us a reason to pick up something old from our collections more often.

Of course pic sets are more than welcome!

It was a fun topic to read about more then Optimus Prime for a change

I'm a bit busy now, but I look forward to grabbing a fig and contributing later.

Guess that's why it'd be a good idea for a sticky topic.

I got Leader Bulkhead in the mail today. So far I'm really liking him, though he has the same "WhY mY SHoUldeRs hUrt?" problem as his Voyager version. His bicep swivels are also loose, like his Voyager version.

In other words, he's a shitload better than his voyager version, except where it really mattered.

However, this version is much easier to fix, especially the shoulders.

Where do i begin on this one. I live in nostalgia (when it comes to TF). I like this topic. i pull out my G1's all the time.I recently pulled out my G1 Scourge and Wreck-gar. Whom (wreck-gar) i think should be brought up to snuff with a Classics or MP figure cause he needs it badly. I forgot how little he resembles the cartoon. Nevertheless......i love this character and love the toy. I'm still unable to transform the legs and swing the wheel around without pulling off the tread but his whole design screams Oldschool which i loooooove. Same with Scourge. Can't say enough about how awesome i think he is in both modes. I've had him on my coffee table for a few days now just looking at his oldschool glory.

Good topic......away i go to pull out some more!

Agreed. We could use some new sticky topics and subforum filler.

The figure I grabbed was BM Divebomb.

I always likes stis guy. He's long abd lanky with tons of joints, and I swear after 10yrs or so I'm still not exactly sure how he should be posed.

The fun part is he's a sword bot with 2 giant blades and posable wing bits on his arms that for some reason are spring loaded?

A bit tricky to balance, but the exess tight joints make for some great posing. A very cool thing is that with a bit of preassure holding his feet down, 3 fingers can make him move fluidly and fully like a marionette.

The alt looks more like a dead pelican then a dinosaur, but for me, that just helps it work :P

I'll dig some old figures out a bit later and take pics. could be a fun thread actually :thumb me likes

Energon Omega Supreme, equipped with Optimus Prime's drone vehicles. He is large and in charge!! Can hold some decent poses, has fun gimmicks in both modes. And is technically a Headmaster FTW. I heart him.

I was just going to post about the same figure. Im using him as my classics Omega, and i LOVE the space battleship mode. play value is through the roof with this toy, headmaster gimmick is tops in my book. the only complaint i have with him is he doesn't have nearly enough firing missiles!

EDIT: his split-down-the-middle feature is great for making epic "I just cut you in half" dioramas with sword-bots

Of course, any Gurren Lagann toy would only make one of those dioramas look ever more badass.
