The Twin's faces

Bay had a bold struck of inspiration from Mr. Picasso. :tflaugh

And this is why I've always preferred the G1 comics over the cartoon. Sure, I enjoy the G1 cartoon much like I enjoy the movies; they're fun. But when it comes to a TF story with more "meat" in it the comics were always better.

That's why I really dislike the Dinobots in Transformers Animated, and what's worse when I meet people who say, "but they were dumb in G1!" -- erm... no, they were moronic in the G1 cartoon, but not in the G1 comics (and the US cartoon ran from 1985-87 whereas the comics went from 1984-92). And even the G1 cartoon Dinobots weren't _that_ stupid... the Animated Dinobots aren't even fully sentient (never displaying the ability to reason as fully rational agents). But I digress! :P

I'm not gonna say I didn't enjoy the movie but when Megatron Flew out the water straight to the Fallen when he wasn't mentioned at all in the first movie....I was like WTF?! I expected him to be unearthed. He's been Megatron's "Master" this whole time and Optimus didn't know of him at all?! WTF!! Everything else I can let fly but WTF?! I enjoyed the movie. After Prime died, I admit, I was bored to death just like when I try to watch the G1 movie again. lol.

There is always going to be parts of the back story that we'll never get all at once. Prime mentions that much of their early history was lost and the Fallen was probably a dude purposely forgotten about.

When Megs reactivated and flew right out to the Fallens location I just assumed that the doctor simply manually updated Megs memory when did the repairs along with a directive to meet up with the master. Now we don't know the history between Megs and the Fallen, but by the looks of it, I'd say the Fallen had been in some sort of stasis for quite some time. I think his brothers messed him up pretty good before they sealed the matrix away (actually he was speared), so not only was he old, but probably never was the same.

Being that the Fallen is so old, there is no telling how far back his ties to Megs went. If he was always hiding in the Shadows, then it's very possible that Prime never knew of him. It could be that Megs hadn't seen him since he was a much younger bot and didn't know until he was reactivated where he was. Anything is possible, but not unexplainable. So long as there could be a good way to explain things, I say it's all good.

There is an opportunity to go back later and fill some of that story in. I guess it depends on Bay and whether or not he feels more needs to be said there. Something tells me he's the kinda guy that doesn't like to look back too much.

Um, you should read the comics if you want to know more about the relationship between Megatron and The Fallen.

Here's a summary:

Megatron was originally Lord High Protector of Cybertron and Supreme Commander of Cybertron's Defence Forces. Optimus was the leader of Cybertron's science division. An excavation near the temple at Simfur uncovered a powerful ancient relic. As Cybertron was being assaulted by aliens, Megatron had the relic moved to his personal quarters. Megatron was badly wounded during the battle and was drawn back to the relic. The relic restored Megatron and then began tempting Megatron with promises of power and dreams of conquest. The relic of course was a sarcophagus, inside which The Fallen was imprisoned. Under the influence of his new master, Megatron built the Decepticon army. Optimus called a meeting with his fellow researchers and asked them to join him in resisting against Megatron's new policies. Some soldiers such as Ironhide, also defected to his cause - they became known as the Autobots. And so a war raged between both sides. The Fallen commanded Megatron to construct a starship (The Nemesis) so that the Decepticons could find a star harvester. After the ship was completed, The Fallen travelled with a crew of Decepticons (commanded by Soundwave) to find the harvester while Megatron and his forces were to remain behind and finish the war against the Autobots.

So Optimus and Megatron's 'brotherhood' was severed at the time that the relic was discovered and Megatron was corrupted by The Fallen, and The Fallen was off-world during most of the Cybertronian war, so he doesn't seem to have been aware of The Fallen's existence nor his influence/relationship with Megatron. The Dynasty of the Primes itself was only a legend until the war started and Optimus discovered that he was a Prime himself (before then he was completely unaware); and it was after this discover that his fellow Autobots began calling him "Optimus Prime."

All righty there you go. Works for me. Point is still the same, just because you don't get everything explained on the spot doesn't mean a plausible explanation doesn't exist.

You can easily get immensely bogged down if you tried to explain every little detail and still make a high velocity action packed movie. It would be 4 hours long and there would still be things people wanted explained better and more people thinking they spent too much time explaining unnecessary things. :wat

It all comes down to perhaps trying to pack too much into too small of a time frame. It's not that there wasn't a good story, just not enough of it to satisfy a lot of people. Perhaps Bay simply needs to realize that not every thinks as fast as he does.

The medic once finishing rebuilding Megatron downloaded facebook into his central core. Megatron then made pals on there with The Fallen, and clicked yes on the "meeting at the nemesis" event invitation. To pass the time before Megatron got there, The Fallen played on Farmville and found a lonely cow

Don't forget the bong hits. Lot's and lot's of bong hits!

So, I finally saw ROTF. The movie sucks, but the awfulness of the twins was grossly over-stated. I actually found them pleasant in comparison to the other Transformers. For one, the twins have recognizable faces and two, they are easy to look at, even in action scenes.

  • 3 weeks later...

Has it been confirmed as to why the Twins look how they look? What's the deal with their faces? I dont get it. I can buy the corny tryna be gangsta bit but why are they ugly?

I would venture that it's something similar to the creation of identical human twins, where a single embryo splits during development to create two identical babies. Now, what if a protoform split into two? It could explain how the twins have mismatched sides (mainly in their arms and faces) that mirror each other's. The larger sides were probably better developed, with the smaller side being a side-effect of their division. It would also fit in where the writings on the twins always refer to their being young. They were likely protoformed after the loss of the Allspark, and did not develop the same way as the older Autobots. The Decepticons seem to protoform by way of cloning, based on the pods found on the Nemesis.

Explaining robot physiology and reproduction... it's fun being a geek... :D
