Your reason for hating ROTF?

Recommended Posts

I didn't hate the movie infact I don't think anyone really hated it. But I and millions others were dissapointed in it.

Why? Bad writing, bad acting, needless sex humor that distracted from the movie. And it was a movie about humans who had to deal with giant robots not a movie about "Transformers" learning to live with and defend the humans, like it should have been.

This.

They killed off all 4 of the coolest bots.. I LOVE MY UNICYCLE BOTS...

Actually, as far as I know, we have no real idea as to whether Arcee and Sis are dead, which is one of my hates.

First, she and Sideswipe are barely in the movie, then they have the gall to make it look like she could be dead just as easily as not, but don't have the decency to at least be specific about it, so we know whether or not we need to start writing angry letters and/or death threats. ( :tfgrin ) (Let's hope the movie adage of "If you don't see a body..." holds true.)

But seriously, my list of hates is as follows:

1.) Arcee and Sideswipe. See above^

2.) The twins, because Mudflap looked kinda creepy, and because they chewed up tons of screen time that could have gone to SS and Arcee and hopefully some kind of character development for the Decepticons.

3.) All the other clutter and cutting-floor fodder that chewed up screen time that could have gone to better uses.

4.) Megatron = Wimp. (And a wimp who took orders from a BIGGER wimp at that.)

5.) The Fallen. Seriously? He's got what, a magic stick? THAT'S his power?

6.) The robots weren't so much "characters" as "big cool looking props" that hit each other. Really, we got plenty of Fox/Lebeuf in the first film, we SHOULD have had SOME robots actually behaving like actual characters this time around (The robot in "I-Robot" was more of a character, why can't these guys be?). And I mean robots that we actually care about; don't make up some new guy named "Wizzy the urinating Transformer" and then make HIM the star of the film.

7.) And while I'm on the subject, why do we need so many "Disgustink Bodily Vunctions" (Calvin and Hobbes Ref.) jokes? One or two I can see, but about a whole third of the film was comprised of this. "Everything in moderation", please!

8.) John Turturro killed Devastator. I don't care that he used a rail gun, if you call in an air-strike on someone in a video game, you get credit, and that's what he did. What the crap?

I probably can think of some more but I really don't want to be here all night. Also that said, I do find the film entertaining I just am not willing to give the flaws a pass just because some bits are impressive. Blah. Sorry I keep peeling open the old wounds...

Also I agree completely with everything dcj91x said about it, too.

I didn't hate it, although i wouldnt call Megatron a wimp just not as strong as he CAN be, but i didn't LOVE it like TF1 ... all in all. it was cool but TF3 MUST be better.

There.

I'll give ya one reason to hate ROTF...b/c we knew Hasbro wouldn't give us ALL the figures in the movie! Not even Scrapper, Hasbro?...that's BS! :damnit

The 4RL Deal, I agree with you about Arcee and Sideswipe's screen time, it was sorta like Snake Eye's in the G.I. Joe movie(which was badass, possibly more badass than ROTF) but That was just The Fallen's spear. It had nothing to do with his power.

Well, there you go.

I can say unequivocally that I truly hated this movie. It's an uneventful piece of garbage with lots of shouting, explosions, nut jokes, lame 'humor', anorexic females and random robots, most of which are indecipherable from each other. Granted, Michael Bay has graduated from having multiple shots of people rappelling down a rope for no reason, but this movie exposed the faults of Michael Bay. It's not a big deal, because so have his other films. And yet, somehow, ROTF might be his very worst.***

I hate the movie because I am given no reason to care about anyone or anything happening on the screen.

I hate the movie because I was ready for it to be over 13 and a half minutes into the film. After the movie slipped into it's 'We're Ripping Off Species and The Faculty' mode, I was saying a silent prayer for myself...but my god didn't answer.

I hate the movie because it absolutely insults my intelligence and continues to give me more lame humans than I can handle at one time. Every shot with a human in it made me LONG for D.C. Cab. And it should not be that way. The Transformers were pretty ancillary--particularly the Autobots. They were just there to look cool and dazzle us with the special effects wizardry and kill off random, nameless and faceless Decepticons.

I hate the movie because it takes main TF villains that most are familiar with (Megs and Screamer) and has them play the decidedly wimpy (you got it right, The 4RL deal...there's no other way to describe their behavior) second-fiddle to a villain who didn't need to be in the film at all, seeing as how we're STILL trying to get to know Megatron and Starscream (and especially Megatron, who seemed to be channelling Starscream in ROTF) and seeing as how The Fallen's quest for 'vengeance' was both contrived and underwhelming. He wants revenge on Earth because of the actions of a pact of Primes? I don't care. I do give a damn about Megatron, though, and his portrayal was inexcusable. No-sell Megatron at the hands of Unicron. It makes sense, and I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. But to no-sell Megs in favor of a character who Optimus Prime (who Megatron wiped his ass with in the first movie!!!) basically BEAT TO DEATH WITH HIS BARE HANDS is crappy writing and directing at its worst. In my mind, even with the garbage editing and vile humans polluting the screen and plot holes and contrivances and the movies overall lack of focus and direction, the stupidity involved in Megatron's portrayal was the movies' biggest failing. If the villains suck, there's no drama, and there's no reason to give a damn about anything that the heroes do.

I hate the movie because I ended up having to use the phrase 'I don't care' a lot during both viewings.

I hate the movie because characters that could have drummed up a ton of interest in not only this movie, but the inevitable sequel were left mostly off-screen in favor of 4 Transformers that I FEAR: Mudflap, Skids, Jetfire and Wheelie. I fear them like I fear an outbreak of the mange.

The bits that were entertaining (Starscream, the forest fight, Ravage stealing the shard, the opening Shanghai battle, Ron Witwicky's 'Oscar moment', among others) just did not make up for the unrelenting cavalcade of FAIL that the movie kept throwing at me for over two hours.

Michael Bay: F**k you for making this movie.

(***I'll be fair: the action shots I liked, I LOVED, and were very wel executed. Michael Bay can film some absolutely beautiful action scenes, and they alone saved this movie from being something truly extra-pitiful like 'Syngenor' or 'Jaws: The Revenge.')

...but That was just The Fallen's spear. It had nothing to do with his power.

Yeah, but it's so much funnier if you think of it as his "Magic Stick" :lol

An excellent summation!

To be fair though, I did find Jetfire amusing; "My great Grandfather was a wheel!" and whatnot was the funniest thing in the movie IMO. However, would I have sold Jetfire's spotty-old-robot-liver for a chance to see some more of Swipes and the Arcee squad and have Megatron actually kick some butt?

HECK YES. (It's all about knowing where your priorities lie...) :tfgrin

I would be really happy to see Scrapper and then any other off-screen character they want to throw at me is fine. Who else did they leave out? Overload, Hightower, a new Bonecrusher that they previously said they would like to redo at a voyager size that I would totally want to own. And thats about it right? Maybe some protoforms. Alice I guess if that were possible.

Ummmm. Whatever those spidery looking bots that form Devastator's hands (look real close), and the 2-D guy that Ravage coughs up.

WHAT WAS THAT 2-D GUYS NAME? Did he have a name? That guy was wicked!

I will give the movie one silver lining....

.. it cured the 'completist' in me.... even for just 'movie appearance' characters. Heck, they are not even releasing allt he chateracters (see constructicons). I might save a ton of money and take 'all' the ROTF figures back. Better yet, I bought them on sale... i bet I can get full retail back as Target and walmart take anything back. :tfevil
