Rule 1: Buy what I like, irregardless of it being original mold, repaint, reissue, homage, on the show, not on the show, etc.

Rule 2: Try to be able to afford them and have money left over for the other important stuff, i.e. eating. :nuts

:redface Rule # 3: make sure your wife does not get pissed off at you for buying some new stuff without telling her

Here's my simple rule: DON'T SCALP!! I only buy what I'm getting for my own collection, or someone on the boards who's asked me to pick something up for them. Otherwise, I leave it be and post where to find it so others can pay a fair price like I did. :thumb

What?

"Fight Club" joke. *shrug*

Rule 1. Go for the version that is more Tv accurate(Takara/Energon)

Rule 2. SERIES COMPLETION. There is NO point to "collecting" if you don't go for the entire line. Otherwise, it is pointless and you'll never finish the series.

Rule 3. Open ALL of them. MISB collectors are idiots, and you know who you are. I don't care why you do it, how much it'll be worth in 34.5 years, or how "good" it looks in the box. Shut up, you're wrong and you probably voted for Bush.

Rule 4. Decorate the shelves according to series. There's no reason Alternators Sideswipe should be standing next to Energon Towline.

Rule 5. NEVER "store" the toys of the last series just because it's ended. A grown man shouldn't own an official "toybox"...Sell what you don't want, or better yet, respect it for what it was and remember the fun you had hunting for it and sit it on the shelf and let it shine.

1. I go for what's available regardless of whether it is Takara or Hasbro. If there are both readily available at the same time frame, I'll go for the Hasbro version because it's cheaper. Energon is harder to find over here than SL especially the newer waves.

2. At least one mold of every character in a line like BT, Energon, etc. Repaints are secondary, and are second to last priority unless they're really cool like getting all the Armada seekers, or something. The only exception in this rule is TFU, were I just buy what I like. I also only collect the newer lines starting from Armada since I began with Unicron, so if it is from older lines except for the Takara Collection reissues, I will be very selective.

3. I also display my toys on the shelves and group them according to line. The only exceptions are really tall ones like Omega Prime, OS and Unicron which I have no choice but to put in the same shelf with the highest space.

4. I open every toy except if they are really, really rare and expensive. If someone gave me a G1 Bumper or an original Targetmaster Hot Rod or Stepper, I won't take it out of the box, unless it is only MIB since it's opened anyway. Since no one will do this and I am not crazy enough to spend over hundreds or thousand of dollars for a toy which is barely the size of a basic, this will never happen. I am still thinking about slightly cheaper but also tough and pricey finds like OTFCC exclusives, but I'll probably open them too.

Like Bodycount said always open. You never know the potential of a fig. until you play with it And I would be a completist if I had the money ( stupid bush ) :tflaugh

1. Main characters only - Ie Leaders (aside from Alts)

2. No Recolors - other than significant repaint characters such as Scourge/Black Convoy

3. Open all

4. No Takara versions unless I really have to
