Fine, I'll go with your thoughts, FN. I'll choose the first one because it was a more cohesive film. But in terms of how many times I said holy s*it I'd go with ROTF.

Part one was bette.

1st movie:

every character had a name

every character had a voice, even if some were only cybertronian

every decepitcon had a fight scene. Blackout/army base, Barricade/Bumblebee, Bonecrusher/Prime, Brawl/city street, Starscream/jets and Ratchet and Ironhide, Megs/Prime.

Plot moved slow at 1st, but didn't stop for the whole 2nd of the movie

Prime didn't kick ass

Too much human screen time.

Autobots got all the screen time, Decepticons needed more

Megatron was one scary dude.

2nd movie:

Most characters didn't get named

7 constructicons and only one had a voice, Sideways no voice, Jolt no voice, Bonecrusher/Blackout no voice, Arcee bikes and Sideswipe got a line or so.

Prime did kick ass, too bad he wasn't taking names or we might know who those characters were.

Decepticons got more screen time, but it was wasted for the most part.

The wrong autobots got screen time.

Megs and Starscream were better this time.

The Fallen, omg such a bad villian that he's hooked up to a resperator for crying out loud.

Megatron was not nearly as badass in this one.

I dd like the pretender, at 1st I thought it was a waste but on second review I like it.

So many things about the second one boggle my mind.

In a movie about Transformering robots, we never see 6/7 constructicons transform, or Jolt, or the twins. Devestator was also cheated.

They didn't do the things Transformers should be doing, like fly in and transform right before landing, or drive full speed and transform into robot and attack. Ok now that I think about it the 1st half of the moive did this well. Second part...

A movie where half the cast isn't named, or giving any backstory or charaterzation.

Hey! lets bring back transformers that died in the 1st one and not explain how they got here, and lets only show them for a bit.

And even better, lets show the same transformers in two or three different places at once. And not explain that either. Since they don't take or act they aren't important anyway.

God this movie screwed up in so many ways it hurts

well said...

and yet... Bay (and possibly others) will go away with this as an example of how making crap can still make a ton of money. What will this do for the future of movie making? (not just TFers). And how does this reflect on the overall preceived intelligence level of TF fandom??

The critics might have gone over the top - but they were right! Why did Bay thank the TF fans? They were the only ones he could! If only he heard his displeasure and higher expectations from them as well - then maybe we'd get a better #3. As it is right now - we don't even know if we're going to get a #3.

Personally, I wish Spielberg would get the message -- and since Bay is "taking a break from robots" -- that he gave the 3rd movie to someone else to do instead of Bay.

I enjoyed RotF more.

ROTF is clearly the better film. (IMO, that is. So please don't state the obvious with "That's your opinion!" I grow oh, so sick of that bullshit.)

I thought the movie gelled together better than the first. The human scenes (while needing a slight trim) were handled better this time, and didn't drag down the first half of the film like TF1.

The actors really impressed me and put a great amount of work into this one.

The actors were really the only saving grace for the human parts in the first one, but even then, the film was so boring that it counterbalanced everything they had done.

The first film is everything ROTF isn't. Such as: Boring. Too long. (though ROTF's runtime could've been trimmed a bit.) Not enough character development even though I liked the characters...robots and humans alike.

ROTF wasn't boring, wasn't so long that it became uncomfortable, but close...the characters, we already knew about had more to do this time and they shined in doing it. The action sequences were better, and bigger. And, the shaky cam was at a minimum. Hell, in some scenes, I didn't even notice it.

It was funnier, the timing of the comedy worked better.

ROTF is the better of the two films, and unlike the first one, I can honestly say I can sit down and watch the whole thing from beginning to end and enjoy it. With the first one, I have to skip the human parts or one of two things happen: I fall asleep, and end up missing the rest of the movie and don't feel like starting it over, or...I get so bored I start doing a crossword puzzle, or listen to music, or have a conversation with people while the scenes play out. I honestly cannot stand watching them, that much. They're insanely boring.

sounds like... you just wanted CGI action and prefer the likes of a WWF fight than an actually developed character and plot. So far, it seems that it's not as "clear" as you would like to believe, as more than 50% disagree with you.

It seems to me like ROTF started out as a nice little ball of sequel-y goodness, but then got rolled around in WAY too much toy promotion (hence all the unnamed and out-of-place bots), gratuitous ass shots (good for me, bad for the two dozen toddlers watching in the same theater), dog/robot humping (I thought Bay got off to explosions, not actual getting off), and uber-violent craziness (again, good for me, bad for the little ones). Honestly, if the people behind this movie had followed Simmons' advice to Jetfire about storytelling, the sequel might have had a chance. Oh well.

Oooh... that's a good one... :yay
