Bay Downplays Revenge Skids & Mudflap Racial Stereotypes

Recommended Posts

I think Skids and Mudflap must have flipped a switch in my brain. Prior to seeing them, I was okay with Michael Bay, ready to give him the benefit of the doubt, and willing to see ROTF. It's like, just when I thought I understood him, Bay pulls this nonsense.

You know who the twins remind me of? Characters from In Living Color, mainly the characters Tommy Davidson plays.

...yeah MJ....

where do stereotypes come from??

People need to learn how to laugh at themselves and take things more light heartedly. I'm sure that no one that was offended, ever laughed at a joke or stereotype of whites, mexicans, asians or anyone else. It's comedy. Some of it was funny, some not so much. People need too lighten up on the sterotype issue.

I forget where I read it, but a quote I read said that the guy who did Mudflap was doing an impression of Kevin Federline...a white poser rapper, and that is what Skids and Mudflap are...takes on the 'white boys trying to be black' stereotype.

Mudflap and Skids are my homeboyz! Werd up, G!

North side of Cybertron is blacker than the inside of a drive shaft. Fo sho.

I hate dat ppl take dis too seriously its jus a movie deal with it god damn!

Oh, I get it now... silly me.

They weren't acting like "dumb black people" they were acting like white people who happened to be acting like "dumb black people".

That's perfectly acceptable. :roll

people need to watch ali-g and get a clue about who the joke is on

People talk like that, its no big deal.

Ok, here's a good question I have.

Why is it, if a cartoon character in movie or in this case a robot in a movie, has a voice that people think SOUNDS like a black person then people go all crazy about it saying that it is a racist portrayal.

The real question is...Why do they assume the character is based on black people????

Anyone ever hear Eminem speak? Perhaps it was based on him.

Maybe it was Vanilla Ice.

Or any other white people who walk around in the world pretending that they're black. Did anyone ever stop to consider that?

Better yet, lets try it this way. I feel offended by all those who feel that every little minor character depiction is some kind purposely made backhanded insult to race of people, when in fact, it's nothing but some people just being too full of themselves!

The day we can't laugh at ourselves, it's over!
