ROTF Constructicons

...and the Heroic US Military saves the world from Unicron by shooting him... in the butt... with a nuke. :wtf

Wow, hivemind - I was thinking earlier that if they did end up putting Unicron in the third movie (however that might work), he would almost certainly die by the hands of the US Military and their nuclear arsenal.

Slightly less probable version: Jeff Goldblum kills Unicron with a Macbook.

Even less probable version: Michael Bay kills Unicron with an aircraft carrier.

It might just happen: Michael Bay kills Unicron with an aircraft carrier... in space.

If I may chime in on this "mysterious victim" Constructicon who was killed for parts underwater...

Everyone seems to forget the vehicles seen on the cargo ship. The one who was killed was NOT part of Devastator...Or he could be the "left hand" some say isn't part of Hightower.

But my point is that apparently nobody saw that one of the vehicles on the ship was a small Volvo Excavator. Yet the camera was on it for quite a bit. Enough to clearly see the "VOLVO" on its black digging arm. THIS was the one who got killed. The excavator was yellow with a black arm and the one who got killed also appeared to be yellow. And he fits the description of there being treads on him too.

He just never got a name I guess. But he's definitely that excavator. A much smaller one than Scavenger and Demolishor were.

Thanks, Atmo! I thought there was another anonymous Constructicon on that cargo ship... :thumb

Yes! Kudos to Atmo.

If you think that's bad... just try to imagine the scene...

Michael Bay is sitting at the helm of an aircraft carrier... in space.

The aircraft carrier roars towards the giant form of Unicron at full speed - a collision is imminent!

Michael Bay: Here's one thing you didn't count on, Unicron... I know how to drift.

Michael throws the steering wheel first one way and then the other.

We see a close-up of the aircraft carrier as it turns inwards and slides through Unicron's cloud of laser-fire breath.

Michael Bay: Time to take it to the limit, Unicron... to the max!

Unicron explodes!

Michael Bay: Awesome!

Michael and Optimus Prime high-five.

My thinking is a lot of the movie would take place on Unicron as a setting and he would only transform to robot mode to leave his orbit and fly elsewhere. Instead of fighting him externally (like in the animated movie, which would be impossible), they'd have to find a way to disable him internally or direct him into a black hole or a star or something...

Well, Unicron wouldn't really need to transform in order to travel through space.

Personally I think Unicron for a third movie is far too soon. Maybe they can set him up a bit, But I mean, After dealing with him would there really be anything good enough to follow?

I agree with this. A LOT. Unicron does need to be later, due to the fact that his appearing automatically becomes the climax of the series. Though I feel like you would need to leave it open so you could make more movies later than that if you want to (IE: always leave an out so Megatron can come back if you want him to.) But unfortunately, the minute you do "Unicron" everything afterward becomes fan service or filler, so you should put off Unicron as long as possible.

Not the original animated one, but for this one I'm thinking he'd be just a living planet at first who communicates with his inhabitants, the Quintessons. Just like any other planet, he's stuck in orbit around his star. The Quintessons need to journey out searching other planets for the resources needed to feed him.

Then when some seekers visit Unicron (Jetfire and the future Dinobots), the Quintessons ambush and kidnap them. Over the years, Unicron and the Quintessons study the seekers and are able to develop their own transformation technology. They create the Sharkticons with it and use it to give Unicron a robotic, transforming "shell". This ability to transform would allow Unicron to fly on his own and search other areas of space that were out of reach before.

That really doesn't match up with what we know about Unicron, who is after all, a Multiversal being. Unicron is Unicron, regardless of reality. There is only one Unicron. He was always able to take on planet or humanoid form so there's no need to come up with some method of giving him that ability.

Besides, your proposal would require most of the movie to take place on another planet and require massive mounts of CGI to create entirely CGi scenes.

Well, my idea is to introduce him and Primus in increments, revealing Unicron himself (possibly still within his extra-dimensional prison) at the end to foreshadow is coming at a later date rather than use him as the big bad to fight at the climax of the movie.

Of course, now we're getting waaaay off-topic by discussing Unicron instead of the Constructicons.

I am struck by this idea: we were all so certain - prior to the release of Revenge of the Fallen - that the robot-form Constructicons and the combining vehicle Constructicons shown in the trailer footage were, in fact, the very same Constructicons. As this turned out not to be the case, I think it can be said that from now on, the only safe assumption we can make is that there will be no more safe assumptions. It is entirely possible that in the next film there will be Unicron, or Unicrons; a giant robotic entity, or perhaps not; with the ability to turn into a planet, or something other than a planet; and possibly necessitating an explanation for this situation. In a world where robots can turn into construction vehicles, and construction vehicles can combine into a bigger robot, but robots cannot turn into construction vehicles and combine into a bigger robot, pretty much anything is possible. :)

Hence...I'm struck by the idea that we'd even expect Unicron's persona, if introduced into the movie-verse, to stick to canon. So far, very little has, particularly in regards to the team that this thread was originally concerning, the Constructicons.
