RotF Leader Prime: The second coming of Jesus?

Recommended Posts

I actually like the first Oprimus Prime better! I have the MA-21 Battle Mode Optimus Prime for one thing

1. It has chrome

2. It has real rubber wheels

3. The wheels line up better in truck mode

4. I like them better in robot mode

5. I like the blue tint lights and glass

6. The grill symbol is better

7. The arm panels don't get in the way

8. It's very tough in both modes. (Built Brick Tough)

9. Hands Work

10. MA-21 has a Better Sword

But I do like the ROTF Optimus Prime almost as much.

1. It has the dual swords

2. The better truck back half

3. Better head sculpt

4. It's more movie accurate.

5. It's taller

6. Nice Legs

7. Better Chest Doors

I like both very much so, but I like the first one better maybe because its more G1-ish, but that's just what I like.

But both Movie Primes Kick Ass and I love them!

I would like chrome smoke stacks for both!

second coming of Jesus? Eh, Optimus is Jewish, everyone knows that...his real name is Primestien. had him over at sader and he found the Matzah of leadership & during the holidays, he makes Energon Latkes...this prime figure though...like buttah!!!

I don't get your point... Are you suggesting then that he cannot be the second coming of Christ? I disagree. After all, Jesus was Jewish. So Optimus Christ can be Jewish, too.

In all seriousness, here's my opinion on ROTF Prime in comparison to the one from the first film's toyline: The '07 one was the better toy.

Wait, wait. Don't stone me. (Man, this post is too biblical for my tastes. Moving on.) I said it was the better toy and I stand by that. Give them both to a child, and while that child may at first think the ROTF one looks cooler, which one will the little tyke actually be able to do anything with? Yeah, that's what I thought.

So... '07 one is the better toy. But the ROTF one? Much better kick-arse adult collectable!

Agreed. ROTF Prime's a fantastic bit of engineering, but he's almost too complex for a mainline toy Prime. I can see most kids (and hell, most adults :lol) getting frustrated with him.

Really, my only gripes with him are the obvious last minute cost cutting (box art proto shows articulated fingers, and you can clearly see the ball joint in his thumb and the hole for the pin in his fingers on the actual figure), and that compared to my MA-21 his paint job is kinda... lackluster. If they do a fixed premium version with chrome and a little more detailed paint aps, rubber tires and properly articulated hands, i think he might well be the perfect incarnation of Optimus.

Wow now I see the hand were molded for articulated joints!

Dam they got cheap. (Too Bad!)

I agree with you.

If they do make a premium version with, better hands, rubber tires, and chrome then he will become better than the first one to me.

This is very likely to happen!

I wish he was cheaper.. I really want this guy. I know for a fact that 07 Movie Prime is going Truck Mode display for the rest of his life when I do. At least the bulk of the original toy translated favorably in truck mode .. which is more than what I could say for Leader Megs... in either mode.

The real hang up I'm having is... which Megatron to get! Holy shit man, Voyager Megs is pimpin, and I'm diggin the Leader one.. ugggghh choices! Damnit Hasbro!

Clearly you haven't handled RiD Prime and Magnus... and then try to get Omega Prime going.. 2 hours man.. 2 hours.. frustrations. They've been merged for well over 3 years, and they're staying that way.

Actually, I have both American releases of both those molds. I really dont find either of them to be remotely close to as complex as RTOF Prime is. RiD Prime is a Lego-former that completely disassembles to transform, which makes him not all that complex, and the only trouble I ever had with Magnus was figuring out that there's a pair of hinges at the cab end of his "trailer" that you have to unfold to get him back into truck mode, otherwise the pins don't line up with the holes. That took me awhile to notice.. I fought with lining up that stupid trailer for awhile before i saw the little hinge. :lol

But IMO the only difficult part of Omega Prime is actually getting him to *stay* together, as where the upper part of Magnus (the cab) latches into Prime is kind of a little too flimsy. Getting that to stay connected was a pain in the ass. But I tend to leave mine in Super Fire Convoy mode anyways, I think it looks better than Omega does (also due to the fact that Hasbro was epicly lazy with the Uni Magnus Redeco in that it's, well, barely a redeco and if I display them in that mode they're too similiar looking).

Clearly you haven't handled RiD Prime and Magnus... and then try to get Omega Prime going.. 2 hours man.. 2 hours.. frustrations. They've been merged for well over 3 years, and they're staying that way.

Alas, it's been far too long since I had RID Magnus to remember much about how he was... Off on a tangent, though, RID Prime is my earliest aquisition of my 44 Optimus Primes. (Soon to be 45 if one allows into the count the Orion Pax I have on the way.) Never got the G1 one as a kid, which is well enough as it wouldn't still be in any decent condition if I had, where as the one I've got now is in rather nice shape and has a lovely little energon axe that the '84 one wouldn't have come with anyway. Where was I?

Oh, yes. RID Prime and Magnus. Don't remember much about my sadly lost Magnus, although I never recall having any difficulty with him. And Prime's easy enough. The regular bot's simple enough and the super bot's a puzzle former. And while again speaking only from vague memory, I don't recall Omega Prime being too difficult.

ROTF Leader Prime, though? Bloody hell, but I cannot remember the last time I was lost for a while even while consulting the directions... Strike that, I can't remember the last time I even had to consult the directions!

Heck, even Masterpiece Megatron, about which I had heard things along the lines of, "Even if you're an experienced collecter, read the instructions first, set aside a good half hour at least, and be prepared to swear a lot," I managed without directions, without swearing, and first time probably came in about five or ten minutes sooner then expected. Compare that to ROTF Leader Prime... Well, hell, I was even lost for a bit (mainly on that chest area many seem to have problems with) even after watching some stupid YouTube video of someone else transforming it!

Mind you, have it down nicely now, and once you know what you're doing you're fine. But that first time through can be nervewracking even for one who thinks themselves a transforming pro... And I would think for the run of the mill light enthusiast or simple kid wanting toy... Well, interesting times lay ahead.

That said, I will go on record saying I absoloutely love this toy and it is my favorite movie Prime, and probably right up there on the vague and undefined list of favorite Optimus Primes all together.

^ So either they made Prime BIGGER in the movie for that scene, or the hands on Leader Prime should be ridiculously huge.

They had some scaling issues. At one point Optimus could hold both Sam & Mikaela in his hands, but later when he picks up Great Gran'pa Witwicky's glasses, they were either huge or Optimus' hand got smaller. That or my perspective is shot all to hell.

281x211.jpgYea cause his finger is wider than a human head.... He is using his claws like a pair of tweezers..

I would like chrome smoke stacks for both!

How's this? (I posted these in the "Action Pose Thread" last night)
