Such Crap. WTF has Michael Bay done to Devastator!! Everyone must be blind if you don't realize this is no longer a transformer? Even the Go Bot's combiner series is so much better than this load of crap. And you want people to pay 100 bucks for this? Man... People that buy this are a bunch of suckers.. Here a bunch of real gestalts. www.frenzyrumble.com Seriously. :tfevil

Ughhh...those...paints...does anyone else get the idea that they're going to do really, really simple paints again on this toy line so they can release badly painted premiums again so they can get more money?

Yeah, there's really no excuse for not giving the individual pieces their own robot modes; yes, the movie may cheat on the combining and transforming, but there's no reason why the figures can't too. Figures from the first movie line had transformations different from their big screen counterparts and fudged the details where they needed to (Bumblebbe's crotch license plate for example.) If they expect us to buy a $100 set of Transformers, they really ought to make individual robot modes. Especially since earlier combiners have pulled it off fine in the past. I don't care if he is two feet tall, I'm paying for the entertain value of it, not the size of it.

The more I look at this the more it pisses me off and I'm done joking now. If you want to do something about this then do what I did and ENI if you are reading the forum pass this on as well. I sent an email to hasbro saying that if they don't make a fully transformable version of devastator then I won't see the movie and I won't spend money on the movie line. If we fill their mailbox with emails like this they'll get the point. Not guaranteed they'll do anything, but boycott and I mean a full line boycott, is the only weapon as well. Also send emails to the film's studio and so forth as well. If we overload their mailbox's maybe they'll listen. Does anyone have direct emails for hasbro higher ups? We could email them too.

Oh, Jesus Christ, settle down. The whole damn fandom is acting like children tonight.

After spending some time looking at both versions of Rampage, I can't even imagine how Hasbro makes one toy that can turn into all three modes (vehicle, robot, leg). Hasbro is hampered by trying to recreate in plastic a design created to live in 2-D space on film.

Hobbes, nothing but love man...and while I agree with you that boycotting over a particular 'toy design' is a bit 'extreme'...I can't understand why you couldn't imagine Hasbro being able to make these transform from single bot to vehicle to gestalt limb? They've done it for the past 25 years! So we're going for a bit more 'realism' with this one...I still don't see why the expectation of a single fully transformable release is unreasonable? Sure, everybody's blowing off steam...we've been built up, and then let down...some more severely than others, but nonetheless. Surely you can sympathize with that?

It's hillarious that you bash the movie and then link to a site that immediately queues up the Autobot theme from said movie :lol

Personally, i think Devesator LOOKS awesome, and I fail to see how it's Bay's fault that Hasbro dropped the ball on this one. How is he not a Transformer? Or a gestault. He's a buncha robots that turn into vehicles that turn into a bigger robot. Sounds like Devestator the Transformers gestalt to me.

Now, the toy on the other hand... yea, I'm disapointed in it. Now that I see just how big it actually is, i'm warming up to it a little.. but it seems rather underdetailed for the size and price. I want to love it, but I'm just not sold yet.

Edit: On further thought, I've decided to go with this: If they scrapped the robot modes for the sake of making him massively articulate as opposed to the bricks that, well, every other gestault is, then i'll be sold. But if he's still a brick, then there's no excuse for not having robot modes, even if they're simplified from the non-combining deluxe figures robot modes.

Regarding Devastator. I am happy he is in the movie but...

I agree they should have the Voyagers with Robot modes combine. Even if they were $25 a piece I think a lot of us would buy them all for $125. That wouldn't be that much bigger in size than the one they have now and would look much better since the Voyagers have a lot of detail on them.

They could've taken that $100 one made it smaller for $50 in the same class as Unicron/Primus and have that one for kids to play with.

Doing it this way may confuse the mass market type consumer. It confused fans like us! If their kid wants a combiner one after they see the movie, parents are not going to want spend $100. They would've settled for a smaller $50 even if it was out of scale to some of the other toys. So the parents are going to buy their kids some of the Voyagers when they see them on the shelves and the kids are going to wonder why they don't combine.

I am hoping that someone comes up with a Mod Kit similar to the Masterpiece 01 Optimus Prime trailer that could be well done and sold on sites like BBTS that would be good for most of us.

Of course watch Hasbro realize they should have done it that way and a year from now make those Voyagers again with some mods and then we all have to spend another $100+.

Just my thoughts as an original G1 fan who doesn't want to spend a lot of extra money.

:tflaugh Honestly, I don't give a damn what devastator or sideswipe or any of the other new characters look like at this point. Hasbro has answered my prayers and givin me the movie Optimus prime of my dreams!!!!!!! the only touch is to make him the perfect height( shorter than the leader megatron and taller than the voyagers) this year keeps gettin better and better!!!!!!!! all that I care about right now are the improvements done on the original cast of robots in the first movie(ironhide, bumblbee, starscream). when I see the movie that's when I'll consider getting the new guys .100 dollars is crazy for a cheap lookin devastator, but it's not like there isn't gonna be a cheaper version later on down the road. who care if he transforms or not In my opinion, what matters is the robot mode. as long as that looks great whats to fuss about. I mean, look what they've done to Optimus, honestly. This is like the first movie all over again. everybody is gonna complain about how the new characters look but the minute they see them on the big screen: OH THERE SO GREAT I'VE GOTTA GET THE FIGURES OF THEM. CHILL OUT HONESTLY everyone should be glad they're even doing a sequel to a great movie.

Haha, ROTF devastator...the name fits the fig perfectly. Its crap

I am glad they're doing a sequel. I hope they do 20 movies. And I guess my saying boycott was over the top but this devastator thing irritates me to no end. The rest of the line looks good, even the twins. They're goofy I guess, but honestly the autobots would be the ones with the goofy bots. Deceps would kill them or use them as cannon fodder. And I'm thinking the twins are going to be the comedic relief in this one. It's just...how long have we wanted a combiner team? Now we get this?! And the sad thing is even if we do hurt hasbro's sells on the 100 dollar version their response won't be "We screwed up on the combiner" it'll be "Well nobody wants combiners so we shouldn't make them anymore." And also at an earlier point when we were asking about combiners in the universe line Hasbro said there were shelf space concerns...so with this combiner they take up the shelf space for the individuals and the complete form? Something doesn't jive there. I'm going to bed. I hope tomorrow's Q&A will give us some better news. :justprime:

What I can't see is how they'd have the gaul to charge us a record retail price with said cheats in mind.

The damn thing is two feet tall and four feet wide. It's the biggest Transformer ever made.

Ev.

Er.

You're paying for size, not complexity. And you can already tell it is a damn bit well more complex than the Transformer it's dethroning as largest, so there's not much to complain about. It's just that large TFs are notoriously simple. Go Transform your Optimal Optimus, Supreme Cheetor, Cybertron Metroplex, or (if you're lucky enough) Fort Max again and ask yourself if your expectations for this Devastator toy were even a little bit realistic.
