G1 still remains king of the gestalts

:pfx

I would love if hasbro could be super cool and recreate a modern version of the original devastator. I doubt that it'd be too hard for them to figure how to get more articulation out of that design, and possibly improve the robot modes too. I honestly wouldn't mind having all the separate combiner accessories of the old g1 gestalts, as long as it ends up as kick ass as I believe hasbro can make it. On that thought, wouldn't that original design be close to 100' tall? I figure that the legs are probably about 30' each, the thighs and lower body another 30', and the chest and head reaching another 25'. including bonecrusher's shovel, 95' could easily be possible with normal sized construction vehicles.

The more I look at this the more it pisses me off and I'm done joking now. If you want to do something about this then do what I did and ENI if you are reading the forum pass this on as well. I sent an email to hasbro saying that if they don't make a fully transformable version of devastator then I won't see the movie and I won't spend money on the movie line. If we fill their mailbox with emails like this they'll get the point. Not guaranteed they'll do anything, but boycott and I mean a full line boycott, is the only weapon as well. Also send emails to the film's studio and so forth as well. If we overload their mailbox's maybe they'll listen. Does anyone have direct emails for hasbro higher ups? We could email them too.

Nope I give it to RID.

The fact that every team combined diffrent, and that the smaller bots actualy had to transform and merge into one another to make the end robot makes that the pinical of Gesalt tech to me.

The BW combiners were similar in their envelope pushing, but RID figures like Railracer, Landfill, and Omega Prime showed whats realy possible with modern design and engeneering as no mode suffered from a lack of articulation or detail.

The Energon Gesalts were a huge step back, and it sems things are still heading that way instead of forward.

it looks like a good fig, but the price needs a LOT of help. as the vehicles, there is a bit of mass-shift involved. The dump truck isnt as big as originally thought though. from what I have seen of construction and mining equipment, it looks like we now have a mix of both.

Oh, Jesus Christ, settle down. The whole damn fandom is acting like children tonight.

After spending some time looking at both versions of Rampage, I can't even imagine how Hasbro makes one toy that can turn into all three modes (vehicle, robot, leg). Hasbro is hampered by trying to recreate in plastic a design created to live in 2-D space on film.

A design created by people who make movies, not toys.

A design that likely cheats, albeit perhaps imperceptibly, to accomplish all the transforming it has to do on screen.

And they have to render it in plastic in a way that satisfies a number of complications that IRL throws at you: cost, children safety standards, the physics of the known universe.

They're doing the best they can with what they have. If you don't like it, don't buy it, but don't bother people with e-mails because you won't be satisfied with anything less than the impossible.

If you wish to continue your boycott, I promise to buy an extra ticket to the movie on your behalf.

I wouldn't mind having a $100 paper weight.

Wow, Devastator looks...terrible. If he can stand up straighter and not look so much like a retarded gorilla, he might be cool. But I'm not dropping $100 on a squat, robotic troglodyte who doesn't even have robot modes for his components.

I agree that a full line boycot is pointless, same as filling Hasbro's site with negative emails.

I hate this figure, I do, but I like the rest of the line. I don't see the point of skipping all of it in lue of one craptacular piece.

On that same note though, and keeping in mind that this is a toy company trying to match movie designs, I can see how a manufactuer would need to cheat.

What I can't see is how they'd have the gaul to charge us a record retail price with said cheats in mind.

Alot of times this fan base tends to fly off the handle, however this time it realy is warrented, as realy we're getting an overpriced shaft here!

Also Hobbes, when I think of all the other mechs out there, I can't see why these can't even support a subpar set of individual bots. Letting this pass is just inviting more of the same. You do what you want, but concerning this figure, my dollar is voting aginst it.

Then again if we all loved it I'm sure you'd hate it.

Oh, Jesus Christ, settle down. The whole damn fandom is acting like children tonight.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, us as well as you.

It's not like we're complaining about a $40 leader class that won't transform, or even a $50 supreme class that won't transform. We are talking about something that is ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS that won't transform.

That's $16.67 for each non-transforming-into-robot vehicle. You can buy a radio-controled car for less than that.

Savin' my money.

--The Stryker

Big Devastator still looks cool, but I'm a little disappointed that the individual bots don't transform. I know Hasbro has a lot of stuff they're trying to deal with in making these toys, but it's hard for me to imagine they didn't look at 6x $20 figures and 1x $100 figure and intentionally just try to squeeze more money out of the fan-base. I get the whole "if you don't like 'em don't buy 'em" concept, but I happen to like them both. I just don't want to choose between two "sets".
