but... now WJ can't invent the dinobots!

He can still make Snarl (I know the fig of Slag is named Snarl but really why?), and Sludge.

You're high if you think that any more Dinobots are coming. JMO

because we all seen that beast machines chick coming a mile off?

but I agree 3 is fine for how minor a role they played

Hell, Animated toys ARE Classics, IMO.

What I mean is "it's been done". They did the three coolest ones already.

Wheeljack sportin' the stach...reminds me of Mix's.

Hmmm... Screwing with people's minds for the sake of sciene... This better all blow up in their faces or it isn't a true Wheeljack/Perceptor adventure.

That's cool. I wish I could incorporate them as easily. IMO the characters that have been done in both are superior in the Classics versions (Prime, Bumblebee, Starscream, Prowl, Megatron, Grimlock...).

Animated Grimlock > Classics Grimlock and Animated Magnus is way, way > Classics Magnus...although admittedly I own no City Commander upgrade set...it might change my mind if I ever get it.

I got Jazz because I wanted a Classic Jazz and I thought he could fit. When I put him with my Classics, though, he looks WAY off in both modes. Everything's too out of proportion and wacky looking.

I have the same issue about mixing up the toys, but if you group them independently, I find Animated to be much more satisfying in terms of not only the number of characters, but the personality and dynamic that is on display from them.

I really dislike the giant lower jaw and overall look of Animated Grimlock while the Classic Grimlock is a very satisfying toy IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I am a Classics Grimlock fan. But the Animated robot mode strokes a lot more nostalgia bone than does the Classics figure. It's more articulated and more imposing, to boot.

I don't really see the personality people talk about with the Animated toys. To me they just look like distorted G1.

I think the distorted G1 look is the personality. I am a Classics fan and they strike some great poses and can look really awesome (Mirage especially), but when I put the Animated and Classics figures side-by-side in a basic, arms to the side stance for comparison, the Animated ones look ready to leap into action all on their own, whereas the Classics just look, well, lifeless.

But to each their own - if you don't like the aesthetic, you're going to be hardpressed to find an Animated figure you'll really love. I have four running collections - Movie, Animated, Classics, and Beast Wars and I have a hard time mixing and matching between them because of the aesthetic differences, but I consider myself lucky that I don't prefer any aesthetic over the other - I think they all work equally for the story or era they're trying to represent.

And I consider the Transformer Fandom as a whole lucky to have such a broad range of options (whereas if you collect something like Masters of the Universe or TMNT your options are severely limited).

I have to agree theirs far more character in the animated toys hell pose lock down in any way and he looks like a bad ass
