Awesomerest Blitzwing - A step by step to better shoulder cannons by Matt Booker

Yeah, it's been awhile. With Blitzwing in hand, I prefer the wings as is, though I may do the first mod. I'll definitely at least glue that helmet down.

A little something I noticed: the bottom of the pin that the faces rotate on has a line running through the center. (you can clearly see it in tank mode) Everything seems to align perfectly with the line going straight up and down. (it should run along the seem for the nose) Maybe that can help people do this.

See, mine didn't have a line, but it had a notch on each side of the plastic that the pin was in. I wasn't sure if that was a factory error or what, but as long as people play around with it they should be able to find a position that works.

Going to change his cannons at all? Sadly, Octane is harder to find now that the next wave of Classics came out.

You sure? The back of the pin can be clearly seen in tank mode. As for modding the cannons, I may if I can find a spare Octane. I also need a new Universe Prowl since the door's broken.

On another note, swinging the tail fins out in tank mode seems to help with getting the tank turret off of the peg by providing room to move it from beneath.

I looked again, and you are right! There's a very faint line in the plastic. It looks scratched on, instead of molded (similar to how the there's a notch that looks cut on the opposite end of his head [which is the one I was going by, but wasn't sure it was official]). Mine's ALMOST aligned with his head. It's a little off.

That could be because I've got his helmet adjusted a little off. I actually think it might be, but it's close enough. Good thing, because it's glued on pretty good. :D

Does anybody else have an unmodded Blitzwing that can check this out to confirm it isn't just DB's?

Mine has the line, but I can't confirm whether that's the perfect line up. It looks more scratched on than molded in, which makes me a little iffy about trusting it completely. (Just like the notch on mine at the top of the head.) Like maybe it was done at the factory so people could try to line it up when plopping the helmet on. Until a few people confirm this, I'll give it a hearty 'probably' and 'test it yourself, just in case.'

Thanks Detective Barricade!

i got mine today (was half price) and mine does indeed rest perfectly upon the line

in regards to the cannon mod, I don't have a spare Octane, just the one so he's not getting the chop, i do however have a movie release of the clocker mold where the pieces noted by you are moulded in Black plastic. what would be the best way of using this instead of Octane? (plus it's a right arse trying to get past the part of the crotch that's pinned together.

(at the end of the day though, i'm just trying to decide on whether to buy a activator bumblebee or use the clocker already in my possesion)

Basically it depends on which one you think looks better. Compare the upper thighs of Clocker and Bumblebee to the bottom of Blitzwing's cannons.

Bumblebee probably looks better, and involves less cutting.

Basically it just has to be a piece with the cup part of a balljoint. As for not using Octane's peg and ball part of the balljoint... Clocker or Bee might work, but they might not be the right size for the holes on Blitzwing's backpack.

Octane's was just the right size, and involved no additional cutting just to make it fit.

This was so cool

Octane's, if you want to follow along with Matt's guide exactly. Though Matt believes that Swerve's and Bumbleebee's parts would work just as well.

Hope this helps.

I'm not following this correctly enough, what parts do you ACTUALLY need? Octane? Swerve? Bumblebee?

Sorta what Taaron said. Octane's parts work best, and seem like they were almost meant for the job.

Bumblebee's hips could do it, but I don't think they'd look as good. Swerve was an idea that got scrapped (though his shoulder joint is used for my Ironhide guide.)

Sorry if this was a bit confusing, but I had those extra bits in there about Swerve because I wanted to show some of the process that went into figuring out this mod.

And rather than say, "Yeah, I tried this, didn't work." I figured I'd spin a bit of a story around it.
