Comic Book Character Joins Transformers 2 Cast?

Recommended Posts

I've always kind of figured (in my own personal fiction) that the TF's are SO old that they have completely forgotten where they came from and all records from that time have been destroyed. It's all just myth and conjecture.

[fanwank] yeah that's about how I fell what did they say in G1 this was the 6th or 7th great war? I figure that plus the Quintisons occupation must have destroyed 99% of their history that's why I think the journy alone just for answers could be a cool story they would not have to give away any answers they could just end it with the messige that while they dont know their origins they do know their future and end it on that [/fanwank]

Where does it say that he's one of the first? [in the movie verse]

Maybe he's just a third faction in his own right, he went in search of whoever or whatever created the Cube and came back a bit batty / Ignorant of the laws of thermodynamics?

I mean, did the Cube create Cybertronian life? I can't remember offhand, and I'm too lazy to check.

Where did it come from? Other sentient robots of indescribable power? Energy beings? The future? Who knows, we weren't told.

Personally though, I'm hoping he's the Herald of Unicron, even if they do change him (Unicron) from the normal continuity (That is, a deity of Chaos etcetera) -and I hope they do in fact- a Massive Cybertronian war ship transforming would be way cool.

the Quintisons occupation

Heh, that reminds me, I'd daresay that more of the general populace is more likely to remember (albeit barely) the Quintessons being the creators of the Transformers anyway - since that's what was in the original cartoon.

Me, I've found that I perfer "BEFORE TIME BEGAN, THERE WAS THE CUBE. WE KNOW NOT WHERE IT COMES FROM, ONLY THAT IT HOLDS THE POWER TO CREATE WORLDS AND FILL THEM WITH LIFE" better anyway, as it gives the Transformers more of a sense of mystery.

I'm having a real hard time seeing where this is news or even spoilerish considering that the title is "revenge of the Fallen". So yeah it's the Fallen...big deal! we have known this for quite a while now. it's sorta like saying "wow Optimus Prime and Megatron are going to duke it out in the film!" well duh...

Now if a police character named Capitan Fanzone appears in the film then that's news, or if known comic book hero like IronMan enters the scene, that's real news!

Let me just say, I know very little about this fallen guy besides what I've gleaned from skimming through his TFwiki article.

But, I think I get why someone like the fallen might be worked in. So, the core Transformers story is about the all-good Autobots vs the all-bad Decepticons. And that's kinda neat. But only for so long, before you want to complicate it and play with it and do more with it. cue the cartoons, who complicated the war with the loose-cannon dinobots and the atlanteans and the Quintessons and Unicron. Or cue the comics with Jihauxius empires Decepticon sub-factions and infighting and the Vok and stuff. Frankly, I'm not surprised the makers of the movie are trying to find ways to complicate the conflict. (Although maybe fans were expecting them to wait for movie three before they did that?)

To me, this reminds me of the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels. Bring in a new bad guy that the good guys and existing bad guys have to time up to fight. You know, that reminds also of Blade 2, and X2, and... you know, that's a pretty STANDARD movie 2 strategy now that I think about it.

Me? I hope to get a new Optimus Prime narrated flashback about the original 13 transformers and how Optimus Prime's earliest forbearer Vector Prime defeated the Fallen, and then I can get a Vector Prime movie toy! even mention that Vector Prime is sometimes known as "The Last Autobot" and have Sam ask the stupid question, "wait, I thought he was the FIRST autobot" and Ironhide groans or something. Eh? Eh?

I have to say, I don't really like the overtly religious origins the comics give the Transformers. Being evolved versions of Robots created by Quintessons always sat better with me, and at least the cube version knows to play it ambiguous, the whole "is it supernatural or super-advanced science or is there even a difference?" angle.

And Trench, I would flip out if Animated characters started showing up in the movies! I love that idea!

IMO bringing in a new villan is lazy as you brought up the blade series and PoTC movies IMO all lame apart from the first films

I dont see the problem with keeping the classic story of a civil war after all how many Good world war 2 films are their a good 20 or so. they all have the same basic fundamentals Nazi's = bad allies = good they just deal with characters in new ways and I don't see why transformers cant follow other war films and have a good story at its core and not just become Sentai like and just have a new villain each week for them to fight in their new zords

Yeah, but What about Spiderman 2 and Dark Knight? ok both referenced the villians from the first movies, but the main villians were completely new.

what? that's contradictory how can something be a reference and 100% completely new?

Doc Oc and the Joker are classic villains with new twists but they were always recognisable keeping their old traits and your average Joe knows who Doc Oc is and his crazy arms. The Fallen is not very established and so far has just been in a short comic and had a lame toy nobody knows who he is outside of the part of the fanbase that has read that part of the WW series. I know they will bring in new villans but like past comic movies I'd like classic characters for the main big roles Like ShockWave then "new" guys like New goblin from SM3 (really wtf)

Exactly what I was thinking. Moreover, it makes little to no sense to bring in a fairly obscure character that most of the people outside of the fandom are going to know nothing about, make him the main villain, and flesh out his backstory in a medium those casual viewers will likely never read (the comics). At least the first movie had recognizable characters for casual fans, albeit in name and personality rather than design.

Most people outside the fandom knew nothing about any of the Transformers before the movie. All they knew was that Optimus Prime was a trukk and he fought Cy-Kill's Zentraedi minions across the galaxy.
