It's Been A Year!

My 2 cents worth: I had high hopes for the Bay movie, but was profoundly disappointed. I thought it could have been so much better. Many, many mistakes were made. I think the movie toy designs were utterly atrocious and I have not and will not buy any of them. Since the same people are making TF2, my expectations are very low. I'll go see it, but I won't break my neck getting to the theatre.

TF Animated is the best thing to come along since G1 and Beast Wars, but that's another topic.

I watched the movie only once by the way since I was utterly disgusted. Oh wait, I was forced to watch it a 2nd time on a plane. Just as bad the 2nd time around. I have no desire to watch it again. It just makes me a little sad to think about what a lost opportunity the film really was. Pathetic. To be fair, it had lots of action and awesome special effects, but a terrible conceptualization and script.

i just got done watching it again for the umteenth time

>Is it still awesome?

Yes!

My only real complaint is the lack of character development for the Decepticons. Otherwise I love it!

>Do you feel bad for all of your pre-movie Baybashing?

Never got into it. I don't pre-judge things cos that's kinda like... ya know... dumb.

>Are the bot design aesthetics not as bad as they started?

I like the bot designs - never complained about them. I agree that some of them weren't realised so well as toys, but the movie designs were great.

>Is it still worth having seen 8 times in theaters?

Saw it 3 times in the cinema. Lost count of how many times I've seen it on DVD. :P

>Was it great at first, but is crap now?

Nope. Still lovin' it.

>Was it crap at first, but is great now?

Sure.

>Does Prime Collector still despise the movie more than the rest of us love it combined?

Um... I dunno/care. His opinions are his own.

Glue: seriously dude, you should at least watch the movie once before making an opinion about it rather than judging it based on the way other people are reacting to it. Surely you know someone with the DVD - go borrow it and watch it for free. Then you can decide what you think about it. :)

I still enjoy it I wish they had done more with jazz and left out the BB golden shower but I'm not too fussed about it

Still like it. The fact that they have a good cast to back up the bots, is great. That way not only the TF geeks likes it, but the girlfriends do too ^^

But really, all the actors were cool, and did a great job. I can't think of one that I disliked really, which is uncommon tbh :P

And sure, there might not have been alot of character development, but it's the first movie, and they had to introduce the story, and all the characters, AND have action, and an ending. Hopefully, the sequal will be more bots, as you don't need as long an introduction to stuff. They're already on earth this time around ^^

The designs... well.. not too sure about those :P With the mouthplate off, Prime looks like a fish with that mouth (it's too low), and Megatron is to "pointy", but all in all, it works. Better than I feared beforehand. And Bumblebee was awesome. So was Starscream.

Heck, even the "pursedog" (Mojo) was cool :D

It's actually been 1 year and 18 days since I first saw the movie. :) Meeting Michael Bay, Mikaela Fox and Rachael Taylor (and Deni Hines, who just happened to be standing behind me in the queue!) was memorable. :)

Although I liked the film alot, I cant argue with Prime Collector on alot of his points.

I totally agree on the hacker part of the story, they couldve saved some money on paying those actors, sets, wardrobe, special effects, etc and used that money instead to possible put some more robot time in the movie.

I am hopefully that TF2 will be better. I am confident that with a larger robot cast, and a no need to refresh us constantly on "ZOMG ALIEN ROBOTS ON EARTH?! ITS M.B.E.1!!!!!1!", that we will be able to jump right into the action of robot v. robot.

But Im pretty sure its gonna start slow, and were gonna get alot of catching up scenes with Same and McKayla before finally introducing some new bots (probably an hour into the film considering the last film lol)

As to what point Im making here, I forget because Im multitasking, and slightly inebriated. Thank god for Macs and their auto spell check thing.

The End.

you know I think it would have been cool if they cut down the hacker thing and added in some sort of some sort of Sam and BB adventure ware they go around teaching the other Autobots how life is like on earth plenty of time to build the characters and lots of jokes to be had... but I think some generic FBI scenes showing that the army isn't just sitting on its ass were needed I just think they dragged it out a bit too much

oh VIGIL I dig the SoundWave avatar...

The last 1/2 with the bots fighting is good. The rest of it is forgettable paap. Personally, I had high-hopes for this movie to be a Science Fiction masterpiece. The cast, story and the CGI work were there to do it. Tragically, even Hollywood saw it for the bubble gum cash box it turned out to be as the film garnered only modest recognition from the industry. Overall, I accepted, but was not excited about the designs. FWIW we got a Bay film = quantity over quality. However, the strange thing is I feel satiated after "Transformers" I don't feel the urge to collect every toy, see every cartoon or read every comic. Boredom or burn out? You be the judge.
