Well at least we know now, a year later, what Transformers' lasting contribution to pop culture has been...

My sister and her husband are both big fans of the movie... neither one were big fans of the show when it was on, at all

it did increase the fanbase a huge amount. now when people come into my office and see my alternators instead of, "I see you like models" they say "hey did you like the movie"

People who saw the movie or ,just as likely, an ad for it, are not "the fanbase". They are making small talk.

...like people in an online forum

lol

ok maybe i'm using fan a little generically, but it did increase transformer "awareness" maybe... i no longer have to explain what a transformer is or what it does.

And you don't have to feel like a total loser for knowing about Transformers...

though the "I spend all day on a TF message board thing" hasn't quite hit the mainstream yet :redface

give it time....

since they started blocking myspace, music, porn, and games what else are people gonna do at work?

Awareness, Definitely.

I loved the Iron Man movie, but I've never cracked open an Iron Man comic in my life, I don't think. I don't really have any plans to either.

I'd hardly call my self the Iron Man fan base.

And I consider the in depth discussion of the minutia even of a hobby to be conversation. Not small talk.

*leaves to start the "How bout this heat?" thread.
