Transformers: Animated Figures Roll Out Today

Recommended Posts

The truth- in essence- is that if there's anyone to blame for "upsetting the balance" (or what the f*ck ever), it's Cartoon Network. They released their cartoon 6 months too soon.

What? No way. The date had been set months in advance, well before Hasbro's decision to continue the movie line. They couldn't cancel it.

As for availability of the figures... I've been seeing them a shotload here in texas. Hell, my local wal-mart had to set up a section dedicated solely to Animated. They've been selling well too.

Hate to quote myself, but I'd like to see someone reply to this. That point of view just makes no sense...

Honestly - I think he was being tongue in cheek.

I wasn't suggesting it was a fail because they didn't have full stock everywhere at all locations. What amazes me, though, is that other movie lines that weren't due to air for 2mos (Dark Knight, The Hulk, etc) already have prominent shelf space (seen them on shelves since May), while a TV series that's aired for 6mos has had little to no retail exposure.

I just wonder about the logic of it all.

I wondered that too. But release dates on things is all marketing voodoo, so I've learned to shrug and wait it out.

Hutner's point is essentially correct:

Logic = BLOCKBUSTER MOVIES are more marketable than childrens cartoon shows on cable channels that no one watches.

With a few exceptions here and there, toys associated with big movies with a lot of postive buzz tend to move pretty well, and the toy manufactures tend to make a big push before the movie is actually released so as to maximize as much sales as possible based on the good buzz, in case the movie is a bomb and they risk word-of-mouth killing sales (e.g. my impression is that the Speed Racer toys sold pretty well prior to the movie coming out). Although, sometimes even when the movie is perceived as failing the toys still do pretty well with the kids (although perhaps not so much with the adult collectors, which was the case with the first Hulk movie).

Compare that to Animated, which while a great show, has absolutely zero impact in today's pop-culture, thereby ensuring it's a second-class citizen on the toy shelves.

:) If you explain it, it dies.

Thank God.

All of those toys are out - I actually saw the Wave 3 deluxes this morning.

When are Earth mode Megatron and Blitzwing supposed to be out? And any others I might be forgetting.

I didn't realize they were releasing all of these waves at once... that's pretty awesome.

around here if you want animated you have to convince someone to look in the back cause they have so much movie stuff still out.

The leader class Bulkhead and Earth Megatron are out now (but none of the stores around me have put any out yet). Blitzwing hasn't been spotted yet...

Earth Megatron? I've seen the Cybertron version... but not the Earth mode.
