that sports car has officially spanked the 911 turbo and the ZR-1 before its even hit the roads so I'm not fussed about that and hell this isn't the first prime as a car

 

I actually don't have a problem with Prime as a car, either - I was just commenting on that if one was hoping Tomy doesn't make weird character/car choices in this line, I wouldn't have high hopes if this is where they've chosen to start...

 

What's funny is it looks like they've negotiated their first license for this line with the car that "should" be Smokes/Streak, but I guess Tomy decided they couldn't start out their second officially-licensed car line with the same characters. If they had to make Prime a car (due to the whole, "nobody in Japan drives a truck" thing), they should have used Toyota's (Lexus) flagship sedan or something.

 

EDIT: oops, just saw sertile's post. Hopefully they'll use good characters. It's hard to say how much the BT/Alt partnership with Hasbro hindered character choice - I get the feeling that the "blame" lies a bit with each party (i.e. sometimes it was Takara's fault, and sometimes Hasbro's).

the thing is the GTR is right now the top dog of all Japanese cars and its following on from a huge heritage so it being used for prime is quite logical (from a money making POV) also looking at the poster the main selling point is that it is the GTR the godzilla of cars and Takaratomy are cashing in on its HUGE popularity and add that to the Convoy selling power you have the perfect toy to start a new line. lets not forget back in 03 they used the Impreza rally car to push the first BT's (even having photos taken with the drives at the time) and at that time the 350Z wasn't out (at least for a few more weeks)

 

also theirs the chance that this line will go the way of THS and only be a few select toys and not something as big as the alts and on a strange note I don't recall such an outburst of comments when the nike shoes came out

This also raises a good point. There is a huge demand for this vehicle in Japan and the states. People are loving this car.

 

So while you guys may not care, this will most likely sell like hot cakes for car enthusiasts who also happen to be Transformers fans.

I think it is because it is a good idea and good toy. But the complaining is because it is Prime.

 

If it had been bumblebee on the other hand everybody would probably be all over it.

Dear lord, why is everyone complaining so much. It's a new line of realistic Transformers! The Alternators live on in a smaller, collectible breed. It's a cool mold, for goodness sake.

 

Instead of people whining about the car or that it's Prime, they should be more worried about it being diecast and overseas only. Or that the line is called "Alternity."

Yep, ditto on that my friend. I prefer 1/24 scale "Energon Guzzlers" to the new Energon efficient 1/32 scale hybrids.
