Actually I quite like the toy of E-Ironhide, since I've never seen the cartoon and I'm unlikely to ever get to see it, then I don't know what his character is like, I just make up my own character. I wouldn't mind buying a second Ironhide soon, I find the toy to be just fine.

Ironhide was just not a very good transformer....he looks like a tonka truck in alt mode and his bot mode isn't much better with that big old red light thing by his head. For people who are really into transformers his problems aren't that big of a deal but to most everyone else it just looks lame. :tfpuke

I think his lack of sales is a result of a number of factors:

 

1. I think he was overproduced, again he is available in heavy numbers in two waves, and still shipping (to stores that are still recieving waves 1.5/2).

 

2. I think that he was overpriced for a kid character. Hot Shot sold well because he only cost $10, which is just within the impulse buy range. At $20, Ironhide is more of a special occasion buy.

 

3. I agree that his colors really failed to endear the design to kids, he really did look a bit too kiddy, while Jetfire and Mirage both look "cooler"

 

4. There was no one to fight! Red alert and Scavenger weren't very highly regarded in Armada, yet they sold, being shipped with Decepticons to provide some variety on the shelves. For whatever reason, Hasbro hasn't been able to get mega Decepticons on the shelves and by this point, people have the figures if they want them. People are bored with the assortment.

Worst figure ever... maybe even worse the g1 ironhides toy. bad color chibified alt form and the turret. I really hate that transformer!!!

Seriously though I do think that it's the fact that the head is sticking out of the turret. Would be nice of they found a way to fix this feature. If they did this and fixed that gun on his left shoulder to be as solid as the gun in the anime, he wouldn't be half bad. :tftongue
