Partformers

Recommended Posts

I'd like to call myself a professional customizer. Yet, like many others, come across some predicaments where partforming is necessary, or make the custom a million times better.

Sure, it's easy to SAY "partformers are ghey" or "i don't need to make partformers" and i think this is because the author(s) of statements such as those either (a) are amatuers, or (b) don't do enough customizing so that partforming comes into play.

Because partforming is essential to a degree, It's impossible to avoid. that being said, how do the rest of you feel about partforming? is it better to sacrifice partforming and end an ugly bot mode, or would 1 or 2 parts sitting to the side of a beautiful robot mode be acceptable.

I HATE partsforming, however, when it is necessary,i don't mind too much as long as it has a purpose in both modes, like the Micromaster Devastator for example, not in combined mode? at least you have something that looks a little bit like a jet.

I hate partformers and before you ask no, I don't kitbash anything. Except my house... sodding DIY!

it depends WHAT you are parting, 80% of transformer dont have a place to store weapon on alt mode

but in all seriousness I kind of draw the line at hands and weapons, (g1 for life) but f I need to dissasemble the transformer to transform it NO WAY

I feel like partsforming is acceptable in kitbashes, but in a real figure it's unacceptable. It should be avoided, though. I'd rather sacrifice the bot mode mildly, but not severely in order to avoid it.

Weapons are acceptable to me, but I do prefer when they can be stored in both modes. Even if it's done badly like C-Downshift. I suppose armour (like UM or PM-OP) are okay too. Just as long as all the parts are used in both modes.

Hands, etc though? Yuck!

I don't mind it in any situation- IMHO, the ends justify the means. With a little imagination, the partsforming process could be all one fluid dance of machinery.

RID Prime is a rare exception to the rule. For some reason I don't mind it & he's one of my favourite figures. RID Magnus on the other hand...

No partsforming whatsoever if it's an official product, especially with the engineering nowadays. For customs, it's acceptable in some situations:

1. Weapons (would prefer that the weapon can be stored somewhere in alt mode)

2. Add on armor (would prefer also if said armor can be stored or combined together to the alt mode)

3. Accessories needed for a combiner

Now I am new to bashing...but I am old school when it comes to TFs. I really don't see the gripe about partforming. A lot of G1 characters had parts, and it was fun to lose them. Hands, heads, chest plates...you name it, I lost it.

Like I said in another thread, if its a G1 character...partforming if fine by me as it pays homage to the series.

Also, sometimes that is the only solution...like Jin's Warpath bash (hands).
