hate to break it to you but that is the only thread I've ever posted my wise crack about a betting pool of how long it would take before it got locked.....

I always thought that the G1 Sharkticons should have been called Piranacons. Dont ask me what would happen to Piranacon, but I just think the sharkticons look more like piranas than sharks

OK I thought this thread would be fun but guess what everybody is back to the same old argument that takbro does what they want to do and then the other guy says don't suck up to coorperations.

listen guys 2 things;

 

first believe it or not takbro does seem to pay attention to what we 'fanboys' have to say. it is fan sites like these that create the cheapest and most reliable market research imaginable.

 

I'll give you 2 examples, one was the yellow tracks- and I remember reading the arguments on that one 'takbro does not care about you fanboys only the kids' or transformers are for kids not you'.

 

oh yeah blue tracks was never gonna happen......takbro doesn't care.....

oh whine whine whine whine......

 

lo and behold the U.S. release of tracks is going to be blue....yeah apparently someone does care about what we PAYING CUSTOMERS have to say.

 

example 2, remember Starscreaming and moaning about what a pain it is to transform altinator smokescreen.... well I guess takbro had their ear on the ground on this one when they said that they were releasing altinator jazz and yeah who wants get another mold of the same headach we have with smokes.....not me.

well takbro a head of the game with this new mold for it maybe the same transformation but it has improvments most notably on the very things we all griped about , the shoulders and legs. check out the review of him in rumors section.

 

there is more I could list tuns more......

 

I now some of you hate the energon starscream because of his new colors not G1 enough for you. well so does takbro that's why there is a new e-scream comming to the shelves near you.

the other issue.

 

when you create characters consistancy is a good thing. it is something we are used to.

 

so when you have a G1 fan making a recomendation on how takbro could have renamed a bot there's nothing wrong with that. actually some one from takbro my read this and go 'oh yeah that makes sense'.

 

besides this is supose to be a fun thread; how would you have named these characters.

I agree almost 100% with your name changes...

This is a good thread, hell I rename and/or give new characterizations to lots of my TFs. In my humbles opinion, my ideas are better than ANY other persons. At least in my own little world.

 

E-landmine coulda been a Junkion of some kind, due to his coloration and the fact that he has that 'road warrior' look.

 

With a color change, I could see Armada Wheeljack as Sunstreaker.

 

And I have two re-names/re-characters of my own:

G1 Hound painted black with plenty of red detail and some yellow, with bigger tires, a blower on his hood, and full rollcage with pre-runner mount spare. His name would be Daredevil, and aside from being a lot bigger and stronger, he'd be much like Cliffjumper or Wildrider, an Autobot, but a brazen, crazily aggressive one.

 

G1 Swindle same look altogether, but re-named Gunslinger, and kind of a triggerhappy street-punk kind of character.

Orson said at OTFCC that he thinks "Autobot ..." is a stupid name.

 

And isn't there the problem that there is a car named the HONDA JAZZ, and Mazda won't like to see a character based on one of their cars sporting the name of a Honda vehicle?

I have always been baffled by this. What the freakin' HELL does it matter what Hasbro prints on the toys' packaging? If you want to call Downshift, Wheeljack, go right on ahead, there is nothing stopping you.

 

It just seems that most of the arguements on this matter are just plain silly. My view is, this is NOT G1, they are different characters so they shouldn't be held back by HAVING to be called a certain name. The only thing that baffled me was Armada Smokescreen. The G1 namesake was a diversionary tacticion (smoke and mirror tactics) and could create smoke screens, the Armada version had a crane.

 

The were many names that could have applied: Grapple, Long Haul, Liftor, Hook, Hoist, something more crane oriented.

I'm just praying that 10 years from now, Hasbro wouldn't be forced to release an "Autobot Optimus Prime" or "Decepticon Soundwave"
