double post. sorry. internet's hiccupping and seems to have a problem displaying my post

not to totally change the subject, but I still find it interesting how frenzy's head was able to convert into a cell phone. It really was one of the only wtf-ish moments in the movie... <_<

I personally think soundwave as a communications truck would work best all around. In spirit of the original, but not nearly dependant on lame physics in order to be believable.

The Frenzy's head thing I could let slide, as it was just his head. It's not like they had his complete robot form in mass shift into a cell phone. His head was small enough that it could conceivable have changed into a phone without mass shifting. Either way, the head of a 3 ft. tall robot turning into a phone is a lot easier to "let go" then a boom box transforming into a 30 ft robot.

so basically, you're saying that the head turning into something small is fine, okay, we make soundwave a headmaster with a boombox/robot head and truck body. then, the mass shifting opponents will be fine, and the people who want soundwave as a small boombox will be fine, without the G.A getting confused, and without mass-shifting.

i also have to say that mass shifting is stupid, and was in a 1980's cartoon. it haven't been used again, exept for the usual tf scale problems (the cybertron minicons is not an argument, they didn't do it on-screen like soundwave.).

as for the head, it could be a new form for frenzy, thus avoiding copying another character (but frenzy would need to change personality, if not we would have an jibbering and crazy soundwave).

No, I don't think having SW's head turn into a boom box while his body turns into some kind of truck or van would work.

First of all, I doubt the head of a 30 foot robot is small enough to turn into a boom box without mass shifting.

Second of all, I don't see any reason for it, story line wise. If his head just turns into a boom box, where does it go when he transforms into his vehicle mode? In the trunk or the passenger seat? If so, what's the point? He can't be taken anywhere by humans because the boom box can only change into a robot head.

If the head is a triple changer, with mini-robot/boom box/head modes, then it just gets worse. It would not only be repeating a theme from the first movie (having a small 'Con sneak around, disguised as a boom box), but it would also make SW subservient and dependent on whoever his head turns into.

No, the best solution is to accept that SW won't have anything to do with a tape recorder, boom box, or tap deck, and quit trying to fit one of those themes in with his eventual movie character.

He should just be a vehicle, with his minions becoming smaller components that fit in with that vehicle (a stealth bomber and bombs, or a surveillance van and surveillance equipment).

I think he should transforn into an armored personal carrier. While serving this great country Ive run into some very intersting military vechicles, one that comes to mind is the M113 that would be a great choice for Soundwave. :tfgrin

That could work. It gives off kind of a Megatron: Origins Soundwave feel.

Balkan MK6 all the way!! [/pimp]

Why not?

Suits the character.

I agree! :thumb

That would work for me.

Shame any AWAC vehicle would be too big. I feel like that'd work well for Soundwave.

agreed :)

soundwave should be a stealth bomber.
