Barricade in the TF comic

Recommended Posts

You could infer that Scorpinok was picked up by Blackout and got killed along with him. Blackout wouldn't just leave him out there in the desert when they have important things to do (like find the Allspark.

Which BTW I'm just going to say that when the movie was over the first time I saw it, I had no doubts everyone but Starscream died. I think the film presented that idea well enough.

Clearly. Any Decepticons who return for the second movie are going to have to be brought back to life somehow.

ALLSHARD'D

Or there could be more "hiding among the stars."

Seeing him fly off into space helps confirm this fact.

what about Scorpinok then? last i saw of him he burrowed down into the sand and got away

He burrowed away, but just barely. He got the sh*t shelled out of him, I'm sure our scorpion friend is dead under the sand.

Here's what I think about Barricade: I loved him, and he was awesome. But that's part of why I loved the movie and thought it was awesome. I don't want "more of the first movie" in the sequel; I want a new movie. So leave him in the first movie and enjoy him in it. JMO

Ok so I've read in the book that Prime killed Barricade, and everyone swears they saw him get throne by Prime but I've seen the movie twice and I didn't even see Prime throw him.

Even thought the book (script?) says that Prime kills Barricade by throwing him into a freeway overpass pillar, my friend (who working on things related to the movie) saw an early animatic that had Prime killing Barricade "Indiana Jones"-style by pulling out his rifle and shooting him after Barricade gets in his face - I could see Bay doing this as a little tribute to the movie's producer.

Which would have been rofflehouse cool...

I suppose Bay felt that Prime quickly dealing out the dead on the freeway scene was too much so he cut it?

I actually thought that Barricade was just offed in all of the insanity.

Yeah, maybe they felt it made Prime a little too hardcore to be dealing death that effortlessly. He is supposed to be a "good guy" after all.

I guess it also could be because I could see people watching the movie asking themselves, "Why are the Autobots worried about these Decepticon guys? Prime seems to be able to kill them without much effort."

It probably would have been easier to have just edited Barricade out of the end and leave it so it appeared Bumblebee took care of him.

Prime =/= other Autobots

You kind of expect that Prime would be able to take any of the Decepticons, with the possible exception of Starscream and the definite exception of Megatron.

I think "running time" was the main factor here.

Probably, but you have to take into consideraton the reasoning behind why they made particular edits.

I think Bay's first pass at a "completed" film was about 2' 40" long; and, while I hope that version graces an eventual DVD release, I'm not going to hold my breath (as I think only one Bay film has seen an extended version release to date).

Let's hope there is an extended version released on DVD where they show some of this kind of stuff. I hope they filmed it and just took it out for time constraints or something.

Editing is all about keeping the story moving. If they need to cut something down, and there's two scenes with Prime cutting down Decepticons, they're going to take one of them out. As long as the audience gets what's happening, and the important story points are hit, that's all that matters.
