The Glasses

Recommended Posts

There's something I'm confused about.. The part where the humans at Hoover Dam, and they're explaining how Archibald Witwicky activated Megatron. Megatron flashed the location of the Allspark onto the glasses, yet he was buried under the Arctic and frozen.

If the Allspark was near Megatron in the arctic, then why did the glasses give the location of the Allspark to the Hoover Dam (where Optimus and crew were headed on the highway)? Or.. if Megatron knew the Allspark was in the location where Hoover Dam was to be built, why didn't he try to land there instead?

Was this mentioned in the prequel comic or the novels?

The All Spark wasn't in the arctic. They say in the movie that the dam was built around the All Spark in order to hide it. I don't think they specify why Megs was in the Arctic and not by the Spark.

My best guess? Megs detected the All Spark's exact location on Earth from orbit, but was damaged before or when he entered our atmosphere, and was unable to control his landing.

you have to get the whole story from the movie prequels.

they said in the movie and comic that megs got pulled into the earths gravity, then crash landed in the arctic, then froze/went offline

they also showed, without and explination, that the tfs can be frozen, thats why they kept mtgs cold, and froze BB for transport

think about it

megs is headin towards earth, breaks through the atmosphere, crashed into the ice, melt through some porb, and then froze

Even though it's freezing in outer space.

in the movie they SPECULATE that megs was looking for the allspark and got sucked in by earths gravitational pull, but what happened was that upon entering earth's upper atmosphere he hits a radiation blind spot, which shuts down his sensors thus causing him to lose contact with the cube and quite possibly navigation as well. he doesn't crash, but due to the intense temperature of coming through the atmosphere causes the ice around him to melt. his energy shields popped up while entering atmosphere and sucked up all of his energon reserves. he tries to escape but given the weak energon levels and the ever plumiting internal temperature due to the well below freezing water surrounding him his system shuts it's self down.

Even though it's freezing in outer space.

My speculation is that the Transformers' are susceptible to cold, but they can over come this for space travel if they adapt a specialised interstellar alt mode, such as Megatron's jet mode or the Autobots' protoform modes. In robot mode, they're vulnerable to cold... and possibly Bumblebee's Camaro mode may also be ill-insulated to resist the cold. But we only ever see the Transformers getting pwned by cold in robot mode, and we've never seen them in space in robot mode... *shrug*

Buddykiller is right - it's shown in #2 of the prequel comics - Megatron entering Earth's atmosphere and landing on the Arctic. He had nfi what ice was (as it's an alien substance to him) and was surprised to find his heated body melting the soft surface at his feet, engulfing him in freezing waters.

Even though it's freezing in outer space.

Well also, if you'll notice whe nthe Autobots come to Earth - they have bits of armor and pieces that pop off and burn up upon entry. I'd assume that since it worked to protect them in the heat of entry, it would work to protect them from the cold of space as well.

Their power sources likely generate enough heat to keep them from freezing up. In fact, since they're in a vacuum, heat dissipation would likely be more of a (depending on how much heat their powersources actually generate), so their space forms are actually more likely to require radiators to keep from overheating.

Check out the Comic there you will find your answer.
