All that Kicker flashback crap is just a poor copy of Gene Starwind's flashback scenes in Outlaw Star.  Let's see hmm....a young kid, check, a father, check, and space, check.  Outlaw Star ripoff, and he still sucks.

Not having seen Outlaw Star, I'm not exactly sure what comparisons can be made. Do Outlaw Star's scenes cumulate in the character's intense fears of being alone, and frustration and anger for being seen as nothing but a tool? If so, then we can talk ripoff. If not, same setup, different outcome. So? It's like saying Alien is a ripoff of Star Trek because they start with a crew of people onboard a spaceship :roll.

I'm used to character-driven drama in anime, so I quite welcome Kicker in adding a different element to the series.

Not having seen Outlaw Star, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Well then care to disprove me?

And Wikkid, he's not out of his league. His powersuit gives him enough strength and endurance to go toe-to-toe with the Terrorcons, and Optimus has been smart enough to restrain him if he sets eyes on the larger Decepticons.

I can't stand all his flashbacks, every position he is in where he is looking for energon comes with a flashback... "daddy don't leave me" :tdown ... but his battle suit is bad ass. His helmet reminds me of the helmets used in the series Airwolf. And that helmet looks pretty sick.

How bout a tranformer alternators toy based on Airwolf.

Is Kicker a power ranger? if so then yea, he does suck. :tfpuke

you know what's bad ass?

thanks and no i didn't shoot it. got it from sum site since i wasnt able to upload my own stuff.

Kicker flamewar! He's a human, so he's the bashed one. I does not matter how cool he gets or ever will be; if he's taking away screentime, he'll always have people bashing him. But at least he's cool toy. (Got mine yesterday!)

Well mx-01 archon if you can accept the battle suit whatever. I'm only saying I don't. If Spike had been hit in his Armoured exoskeleton, he would have decompressed and Daniel would have to grow to be a man like his mother. I compare Kicker in battle to someone who says he's going to Afghanistan to capture Bin Laden with a .22. But hey, I brought clean underwear. I will NEVER accept it.

He's had like 3 major flashback sequences. First episode, where we learn how he got his abilities, and why he's got such issues against the Transformers. Then, when they're just surveying for Energon, he flashes back to his experiences on Mars, and then we learn why he's got issues with his dad, because he's tired of being used like a divining rod. Then during the battle in the asteroid belt, we get a few brief flashes of him drifting freely in space as a kid, to explain his intense fears of open space, and loneliness.

It's character exposition. They need to set up the "why's" somehow. Otherwise we end up with a horrible, one dimentional character.

I too think Kicker is annoying, but he does have more practical uses than Spike did in G1. But in Spikes defense I never related to him b/c he was a human kid on a show about giant robots that talked and transformed into vehicles/planes and weapons etc. When I was younger, ok I was still older than most at the target age group, I enjoyed the show b/c of the robots and never due to the humans. I actually wanted the humans to get smashed, and the same held true in Macross aka Uncle Carl’s redub Robotech. I suppose companies still feel the need to have human represented in these fictional storied about giant talking, moving robots, but shrug I’d wish they’d learn this isn’t Yu-Gi-Oh (which I should add is surprisingly complex and enjoyable for a show about humans and not TFs). The star of the TFs shows in each series is the TFs themselves, the humans aren’t even eye candy.

Guys its simple.

TF Energon = TF Superlink = Anime = Japan

TF Energon follows Japan anime rules.

These rules must be followed, such as a hero with distinct social issues, comic relief characters, teams, humans empowed by what looks like spandex, cannon fodder, etc. If you hate anime, nothing will make you like TF Energon.

BTW, Kicker is a ripoff of Shinji of Eva. Both hate their fathers, both are a bit antisocial, both feel they are just being used, both are teenagers, and both just happen to have the ability to kick some serious hiney. All Kicker needs now are two girls with their own issues to resolve to like him at once. I'm also eternally P.O.'d about the toy.
