My paper hates the movie

Recommended Posts

My paper's local movie critic retired a few weeks ago, and since they've been doing the typical thing and using articles from other papers (which is just something that papers do).

Anyways, the article that they used for the TF movie review gave it a six. Essentially saying that it's a two hour long toy and GM commercial with no plot (well, a plot, but a very thin one).

From what I've heard on the boards (and I'll be forming my own opinion on Wednesday when I go), the movie is great and has a nice story to it and is not a two hour long toy/GM commercial.

So for those TFans that live in Orlando, well, let me know what you think.

BTW, he made a mistake. There is no Caddilac Escalade in the movie (at least none of the Autobots are (and they're the ones with the GM deal)).

We all know that Ironhide is a GMC Topkick, BB is a Camaro, Jazz is a Solstice, and Ratchet is a Hummer based ambulance.

Also, the movie basic info that they include pegs the movie at 144 minutes, which is just a few minutes shy of two and a half hours. I thought it was two hours, which is 120 minutes.

Their pegging probably includes trailers+adverts. A lot of papers do that.

Well I posted in the Rotten tomatoes thread, the main critics of America absolutely love it.

He may have been referring to the governemt SUVs when he mentioned the Caddilac Escalade.

That's soo wrong. I'm thinkin about buying a Peterbuilt for my daily comutes.

If a reviewer cannot even get the basic facts or the names of the actors of a movie correct in their published reviews, they lose all credibility IMO. In one negative review I read, the guy referred to Peter Cullen as JOHN Cullen. Ummm....no.

So yeah Cadillac Escalade FTL

Some people just like attention. I seem to remember that the New York Times hated Star Wars. Empire magazine gave four stars, and that's good enough for me! :thumb

It's good, and you know when the critics dont like movies that means there good.

Rob Lowing gave it a negative review too, although when you read her review, it's clear that she so did NOT pay attention to what was going on... *sigh* If you're going to review a movie, at least have the decency to pay attention to what's freakin' going on!! (-_-)

You all have very good points. Especially you hrsanchez15. I remember when the movie "Hook" with Dustin Hoffman and Robin Williams came out, almost all critics hated it just because most of them hated Robin Williams. So they went in with closed minds and already set in opinions pretty much making a moot point about going to see the film when they could have just BSed their articles.

Why are people so intent on when there's a movie to review, they usually don't pay attention, especially when it's based on a series (comic/toy/tv) and thus wind up giving it a bad review. Reason, because they're not only a-holes, but also because they have had no prior exposure to the series and thus have no idea wtf is going on (The same thing happened when F4 came out in 2005, though not as bad).

IMO, since I saw it last night, the plot was definitely there, with plenty of comic relief for the general audience

(BB on agent Simmons was very amusing IMO)

, only augmented by the CGI TFs (which is good cause you need plot before special effects, which are there to enhance the story).

The Critics are being a little harsh on this. I mean I read many that say that there is no plot.. That this movie less exciting than changing a tire! I'm wondering if they have even seen this movie! They give raving reviews to fat liberal american hating directors that make documentries about health care and movies where Cowboys are doing each other up the butt, but they won't watch Transformers and see that is a fast paced movie with a plot and very capible actors. I believe alot of these Reviewee's saw some of Bay's past movies and didn't even bother to check this one out. Writing reviews based on a brief synopsis and some previews should get their liberal asses fired! I mean this movie is already breaking records after is first two days! Reviews are for the people that don't watch previews or just watch movies for a hobby!!!
