A mate summed this up perfectly:-

I love how the title is "Transformers Animated!". No $#!£ , it's been animated for the past 20-something years you ass. If Bay ruined people's childhood then this picture rapes it in every orifice, then beats it to death, and Blast Offs on the corpse after penetrating every orifice of it's rotting remains once again.

Did you here the one about the Tfan who got so worked up over a new transformer cartoon that he raped the boards by defecating and ejaculating out of his mouth? He was being tad dramatic, wouldn't you say?

No he is fully justified, Why do all new cartoons have to be piss poor copies of Anime which is already lacklustre. Why cant we have real design thoughts go into it? These shows have almost as little effort put into the charachtors as Pokemon. People are sick to death of being patronised by Blot like this show looks.

If people are tired of being patronized by current animation trends, there's a simple solution.

Stop watching programs aimed at kids and go find something where you're the actual demographic.

I dig the designs. I'm gonna give patronization a chance.

I'd give it a chance if it looked like south park. Even if I enjoyd that it would still look like crap. The only thing that makes mey think that this show is not looking good more than Primes double chin, it the description of the story idea.

I love how cuz were older now we talk about G1 and BM like they were intended for 30 year olds when they were made. They just weren't crap and were watchable by both kids and adults. It is possible. Usually through a combination of effort, tallent, and assumeing kids have functioning intellects.

I think that's kind of where I'm at with this. If you're a Transformers fan, that's great. But I hear a lot of dissatisfaction with popular animation styles today that I would never hear from kids in the target demographic. So there's clearly a disconnect there somewhere. And the immediate answer that comes to mind is that the fans have grown up and become set in their ways, and the cartoon world has kept changing. That's not a slight against anyone -- it just happens. People get to a certain age and they start to become closed off to "new" stuff. I just think people need to recognize this, and try to look at cartoons like "Animated" through a different lens. I know that I would never have personally been into this kind of thing at all if I didn't have kids who watch shows like this all the time. I've gained an appreciation for this style over time b/c of my exposure to it, and by seeing how my kids respond to it.

Wow. Pete's sounding wiser than usual Did someone hand him the Matrix or something?

I think we talk about it that way because we decided we liked those shows at a time when our brains thought differently. Now there is stuff that, even though it was made for kids, does have adult appeal (mostly because it's just really well-done, and people of all ages can appreciate quality). There are certain movies or TV shows or whatever that you can point to, that would fall into that category. But I think you'd have a really hard time arguing convincingly that Transformers belongs in that category as well. Or any television cartoon from that time period, for that matter. (Full disclosure: I'm fanatical for Beast Machines, but I discovered that show as an adult... and I also think that BM fails at appealing to its target demographic. But on a selfish level, I'm glad for that.)

I dig the designs. I'm gonna give patronization a chance.

I hate to break this to you but neither G1 nor BW were made for anyone over 14. The fact that you still enjoy them now has nothing to do with who the intended audience was and more to do with your personal tastes.

The intelligence level of the show can't possibly be determined from a promo poster and a brief description of the show. All you know is there's some humour and it's aimed at kids. Oh, and there's more than one villain. I don't see anything about jokes adults would get, dialog quality, or plot holes in each episode.

I dig the designs. I'm gonna give patronization a chance.

Well, to be fair, this board only exists because there are people out there who like stuff that wasn't intended for them. If everyone on fan boards suddenly said "wow, I'm a grown man playing with children's toys" then I think the interwebs would become a ghost town. :tflaugh
