Dream voice cast for a Tranformer cartoon...

My dream voice-actors for a TF Cartoon...

Autobots:

Optimus Prime --- Peter Cullen

Grimlock --- Clancy Brown

Ironhide --- Ron Perlman

Ratchet --- David Hyde Pierce

Prowl --- Kelsey Grammer

Jazz --- Orlando Jones

Wheeljack --- Corey Burton

Sideswipe --- Michael Rosenbaum

Sunstreaker --- Phil LaMarr

Bumblebee --- Dan Gilvesan

*Added Autobots...

Brawn --- John Rhys-Davies

Hound --- Jonathan Frakes

Mirage --- David Kaye

Cliffjumper --- Casey Casem (sorry, but he IS 'jumper to me)

Interesting choices, and your first three are perfect choices, as is David Kaye as Mirage. However, I don't see Jonathan Frakes as Hound or Kelsey Grammer as Prowl. In fact, Grammer might be better suited to Wheeljack or Sunstreaker. Frakes makes more sense as Prowl to me—the calm, cool, collected, Second in command. Hound needs someone more laconic, more gruff and gravelly in voice, more "rough around the edges", so to speak, not so refined like Frakes. In fact, I would hazard to say that John Rhys-Davies would make a better Hound than Brawn. A good Brawn would be R.Lee Ermly, though he might be even better suited to Kup. Now that I think about it, if we keep Rhys-Davies as Brawn, a good Hound would be Vigo Mortensen.

Well Hound's voice has never been gruff or gravelly, nor does his personality make him out to be gruff and tough. His original Tech Specs and his actions/personality in the comics and cartoon showed he was much more of a calm, easy-going guy. He is collected, smart, and resourceful. I picked Frakes because I was invisioning his voice in "Gargoyles" but with more cheer and happiness in tone. A good fit I'd say.

And R. Lee Ermy, to me WOULD NOT fit Brawn at all. Really would not. John Rhys-Davies could bring a more subtle gruffness and portray Brawn as someone who is all business, tough, and a bot-of-action. R. Lee Ermy is too loud and IMO (while I like him a lot) the tone of his voice is not suited for Brawn.

Kelsey Grammer can portray extreme logic, intelligence, calmness, and a working mind. He also can do a very refined voice in the sense that he is in deep thought or planning, something that I think fits Prowl a lot. Grammer's voice can also play up sublties of Prowl's mind/persona (plus he can pull out Prowl's boring side as well).

Phil LaMarr is Sunstreaker - he can play up the cold aspect of Sunstreaker very well. He can also show a lot of emotion in his voice's tone and strength. So that to me would be best for Sunstreaker.

I'd go with R. Lee Ermy as Warpath, definitely.

John Lithgow as Huffer.

Peter Weller as Prowl.

Well, the problem I have with Frakes as Hound is that he sounds too "GQ"; too swave and debonair. He's too much of a smooth talker, as well as being "in control", with a good command presence, and that isn't Hound. Hound is an out-doors, rough-and-tumble, "good ole boy". Tommy Lee Jones or Vigo Mortensen would be a better choice for Hound IMO.

When I hear Kelsey Grammer, I hear either two distinct types of characters, neither of which fits Prowl. One type is the stuck-up, somewhat prissy and neurotic snob, like he played in Cheers, and the other is the somewhat "mad" scientist type. I have no idea who Phil LaMarr is.

No offense, but I don't know what tv show or comics you saw/read growing up, but G1 Hound was never a "good ol' boy" nor was he a straight rough-n-tumble guy, not even in MTMTE or in the early comics. Infact in the comics he was very much a merciful guy (refused shooting unarmed opponents/foes) who opposed strongarm tactics and preferred cool negotiations and keeping a calm head versus down-to-earth fighting. Hound may have been able to handle rough terrain and loved the outdoors of Earth (which he did very much), but he appreciated its beautiful and was intellectually intrigued by Earth.

But I can't prove Frakes would work either, so *shrugs*.

Phil LaMarr has done tons of voices - Green Lantern from JLA: Animated, Jack from Samurai Jack, Hermes from Futurama, and many dozens upon dozens of others.

When I say "rough and tumble" and "good ole' boy" I'm talking about someone who is not "refined" and "cultured"; someone who is more "blue-collar" or "mountain man" type, rather than "high class". Frakes fits the "high class" and "leader type", not the blue-collar outdoorsman type. Vigo Motrensen and Tommie Lee Jones fit the outdoorman "scout" type better.

What about Jake Gyllenhaal? I think he's got a combination of being both cultured yet not too uppity.

For some reason, I'd want to see a Starscream done by Micheal Wincott. Not the ususal Starscream-voice-starscream that we all know and love/hate.

• Profit of Truth from the Halo games

• Scroop from Treasure Planet

• Top Dollar from The Crow

• Rochefort from The 3 Musketeers

For who? Not for Hound, because Hound should not be "cultured" at all.

Okay, where you are loosing me is...What version of Hound have you ever seen or read where he isn't at least somewhat as cultured as say Cliffjumper or Windcharger or Bluestreak? Cause unless you are re-defining the character (which is TOTALLY okay and cool - just say that's what you are doing), it doesn't fit that Hound isn't as cultured as many of the other original crew of Autobots, cause he was.

I honestly could not think of how I'd want a new DREAM Starscream voice. I really don't even want Doug Parker, but there I was totally frozen up. Starscream is a character who I'd have the most trouble casting ever for a voice. Most of the others, a VA came to me almost immediately, but SS is hard for me to grasp in a VA Talent, because I myself am not sure what I would want out of his character.

But I do stand by that Clancy Brown would make a great Megatron voice in any form/new incarnation. His voice is so perfectly evil when he wants to make it that way, plus he can show tons of emotions and an ability to capture a very intelligent, yet evil character.

I could see Jake Gyllenhaal doing a very good alternative to the normal Bumblebee. JMO.
