Based on his first post, and the title, he was basing this on the Dreamwave G1 Volume Two comic miniseries, titled War and Peace, not the cartoon. I have the TPB collection of that miniseries. It will be interesting to see how his armor turns out.

Rodimus, if you are open to suggestions, I would suggest scratchbuilding the trailer/armor rather than using parts from a Classics Prime.

Actually the trailer will be scratch built but I'm gonna use parts from Cl Prime to help pull it together. Hopefully next week while I'm off I'll get a chance to work on this and on the other projects I have been working on. I'm going to try to get work done on this, and Cl Devastator, and Cl Predaking. I have to rebuild the one foot I had finished because the ankle broke due to some stuff falling in on my project shelf. But I should be able to fix it pretty easily.

That is all well and good, but there are a few problems with using Classics Prime parts that you may not have considered. First off The feet of the robot need to have something to lock onto for the armor legs to remain in place, and the Prime legs don't have that. When I did my armor, I had to design thew armor "boots" in such a way that they had a "stirrup" for the toes, and a square post to fit into a hole in the bottom of Magnus' foot in order to keep the boot locked on. Either one alone won't work. and using a Prime leg as the platform won't allow for that. On top of that, the post and "stirrup" needs to be under the deck floor. This means that the deck needs to lift up in front of the inner robot's leg, not behind it. The other issue is the trailer mode itself. If you plan on this trailer being able to accomidate Classics Autobot cars, the deck itself will need to be wide enough for them to fit with room to spare. This means that the wheel base of the trailer will need to be wider than Magnus' own wheelbase, and the Prime legs do not provide that width, since they are the same as Magnus'. Prime's and Magnus' truck mode wheelbase is only 2.75" wide left to right. The minimum width wheelbase the trailer requires is 3.25", a full half inch wider than the cab, and the trailer deck. This is also true fo the uprights that will support the upper deck/arms. They need to be attached on the outside of the deck where they cannot interfere with the fit of the cars. That is why using Classics Prime's legs and arms for the trailer is not a good idea. I don't think it will work from a mechanical point of view.

Oh I realize all of that which is why I will make a full detailed plan of what I want to do before I start on this. Most likely scenario is that I'll simply set every thing up with a 1/2" spacer between the legs. Of course I suppose you are assuming that I'll be using the entirety of the Prime legs. Which I will not. I only plan to use the lower legs which will become the feet. I plan on having the trailer door and floor fold up in such a way that they will clamp his feet into place. If I have to add something for the bottom of his feet later then I'll take Prime's legs apart and build it to fold out of them, and then flat in trailer mode. The next part of the plan is to have the shoulder plate which the head will sit on fold up into the front end of the trailer between the sides of his shoulders which his arms are connected to. The front and back of the trailer will have a connection point in the form of side rails which will lock the floor of the trailer level, and square it up. Then out of the chest plate there will be a post that folds out for the hitch pin. So yes you are right as is the legs will not work. However that is why it's called kitbashing my friend. :thumb I intend to have him stand about 2-3" taller than Cl Prime.

Well, I wasn't figuring on you trying to use the entire legs, just the lower ones like you said. I just don't see using them at all as a viable option, As far as the head/helmet goes, you might want to consider making it a separate piece, and actual helmet, that can be stored under the deck rather than trying to fold it up between the uprights. That way it leaves more room for cars in trailer mode. As for tyhe trailer hitch, your best bet is to use 9mm square tubing with smaller square and round tubing inside of it to make the pivot pin. The 9mm square tubing fits perfectly over the square post on Ultra Magnus' legs. There are shots of it over in the WIP thread at Transtopia.

I would like to see drawings of what you have planned, and could probably give you better advice on how it might be improved, based upon my own experience.

I gave up designing one when I hear about the one from Fansproject so as soon as it gets here I'll post pics of him towing the trailer, and wearing the armor.

Personally I can't stand that Fansproject armor. for a number of reasons, the foremost of which is the trailer isn't functional. It can't hold cars, it can't pivot on the hitch like a real trailer would. They spent so much time on the armor mode, that they completely sacrificed the functionality of the trailer. I'm glad I built my own armor. IF I could mass produce it, I would.
