I have to say that the term "Masterpiece" is in reference to engineering, sophistication, and cartoon/comic accuracy. However I think we can allow some imaginative license. And not be so critical. I think they have done very well !

I'll just buy some long stacks for my DVD Prime, call him MP-01 and slink into the shadows...

the more "MP" figs come out the les "MP"-like they look.

 

I mean MP-01 was great, but he was too dark.

 

MP-02 was way off since Magnus was always in his armor

 

MP-03 had good jet mode, crappy colors

 

MP-04 was good but still too dark

 

MP-05 has kible, fragile, and non-G1ness bot mode

 

MP-06 has good colors but still all that crappy kible in bot mode

and yet I'm extremely happy with my DVD Prime. MP-01 and MP-04 are just too dark IMO, but I'd love to have MP-04's trailer for my DVD Prime and then sell the MP-04 bot as a loose MP-01 :thumb

I'm still trying to fathom the "Masterpieces aren't Masterpieces" thang. They far outsurpass G-1 by all standards. Your opinion is just that. The engineering of these toys are proof enough in my eyes.

they don't far outsurpass the G1 show which is what I'm trying to get at. Yes they outsurpass the old G1 toys, but not the show.

 

Btw it'd be cool if MP-07 was just MP-04's trailer in G2 colors.

I find MP01 to be the weakest of the 3 molds. Weak feet joints, flappy panels, floppy truck mode, over simplistic transformation, loose panels (i.e. the one that covers the head) and couple that with a high price tag makes the first one the worst up to date. Of course, being the first, I expect problems from the first version.

Also cause you just hate Optimus period.
