Yeah, Dirge needs it because he's such a deep and distinctive character! He totally needs it because he was so vastly different from Ramjet! It doesn't matter than Jetfire's head looks nothing like Dreadwind's head, they can just leave that alone!

It'll be a bit, theres no Green dudes or Red dudes on... :redface

I don't even give a damn about Dreadwind! He's a non-character! Besides he chages into an F-16, which is NOTHING like Jetfire anyways! Why not make the characters people actually KNOW look as close to original as possible with the new designs?

My only hopes for the BC set are:

Re-molded wings for Thrust

Re-molded head for Dreadwind

Awesome paint apps for the rest ('cuz I think the color scheme on Dirge rules on toast! :thumb )

:D

Since when is what you know the overall crowd opinion? I don't care much for Dreadwind anyway, but I wouldn't be pissy enough to call him a non character because he might get a remold that a boring clone character didn't get.

Hey, I'm not saying it's EVERYONE'S opinion, but there's, um, 16 Powerglideing pages' worth on this thread, most of whom don't like Dirge the way he was done. I'd say I have some pretty strong backing there. Oh, and looking at Dreadwind on tfu.info, his head does look an awful lot like Classics Jetfire. It's pretty darn close. I'm sure that'll be a real tough remolding job. Hell they could just do a straight repaint and most people probably wouldn't know the difference.

He is vastly different & I pointed out the differences for those who don't know them.

You "wouldn't be pissy enough call [Dreadwind] a non-character" yet you have the cheek to call Dirge (my favourite G1 Jet FYI) a "boring clone".....

Hypocrite much? :roll

I think some of you guys (not naming names or pointing fingers) really need to relook at this. This figure set is part of a Convention Package. It's more than just the toys for attendees, which makes A LOT of sense. Now for those Non-Attendees - the price does seem high, but also remember, these are sold in limited quanities and can't be produced like a mass figure.

Think of it like this...Let's say Dreadwing/wind is a Voyager and the rest are Deluxes. So that's 1 Voyager and 4 Deluxes. Now these are produced at a much, much smaller amount - and a couple will almost certainly have remolding (following suit of the previous convention sets). Remolding on a mass-produced toy is no big deal, however - when it comes down to remolding on a smaller scale, things change.

Here are some base prices pulled outta my ass to try to help figure this out...

Thundercracker - Since he is a straight Repaint, will only cost roughly $40.

Dirge - Repaint - $40.

Bugbite - Repaint - $40.

Thrust - Remolded Wings - $70-$75.

Dreadwing - Remolded Head (or other parts) - $90-$100.

This brings the total to being around $280-295.

Now Add Packaging, Art, Con-Labor, and Various other little snippets of costs here and there. Brings you to a total of around $320-$330. The Repainted figures only costs as much as they do because they are taking a $10 toy, adding mold costs + design and materials/labor costs. Then add about $8 bucks profit for each Repaint. Now with the Remolded toys, it's different. Due to the high costs of actually remolding a VERY small production number, you have to charge a lot more. Having the rights to the molds works fine for simple Repaints, doesn't work like that when you then Remold them. So take the Remolded ones and add an additional $$25-30 bucks more for the Remolding process/expense. If the Remoldings were done more so on a mass-produced scale it would be much different, but it is not when you have only a small couple of 1000 figures produced.

Just going by a rough estimation - I'd say that for the Cost of $329 for the Set, the Business Behind BotCon makes roughly $25-$30 profit per Set sold (this is being generous to their profit margin, btw). Now that's means it costs them around $300 to make each set. They aren't exactly walking away making $100-$150+ profit per set here. They are probably making a good profit, but not a gigantic one. Once you factor in all the overall cost of the Convention itself and the Remolding and the Artists being paid, plus the mold costs and the labor/materials, they are still making profit - just not robbing anyone really.

My numbers are of course just my opinion and can certainly be called into question, but Conventions costs a terrible amount of money to run and exclusives are VERY expensive all the way around. Just think on these numbers for a bit - they aren't exact, nor am I in with the BotCon Businesses, but these are what appear to be reasonable prices/numbers to me.

Or maybe they're hiding

This is kind of entertaining
