Larger Classics? What do you think?

Recommended Posts

we'll probobly see the energon superion repainted as superion

As long as they give us two new molds for a couple of the limbs that'd be fine by me. Shoot I'd even go for a repaint/2 part remold of Bruticus.

I gave up on hopes like that long ago

Also, I heard that since there is a 6" Titanium Soundwave that they wont release a Classics version. :tdown

I think the actual reason given was since they were releaseing the Titanium one and the reissue version that they didn't feel like putting out a classics version and glutting the market, of course doing that with prime is fine. :tdown

Well, keep in mind that the kids all know Optimus. They all want Optimus. The good guy leader's gonna sell like crazy in a toy line.

But the kids only know Soundwave as that weird hip-hop DJ jet thingee in Cybertron, and that's it. I think the fact that there'll be two Soundwaves on the shelves at all is pretty sweet. :thumb

I personally vote against larger sized Classics.

I like the price-point of Deluxe and Voyager sizes, and having larger sizes could possibly mean "larger-but-more-stupid" figures. Granted there's always the possibility of great Ultras, Leaders and Supremes, the reverse is also true.

Take the GF/Cybertron line, for example. I'm pretty sure that, in general, we can say that the deluxes have been very good. I think that their complexity generally justifies their pricepoint. Let's look at larger figures in the line: I'm pretty sure we can all agree that at least half of the Voyager and Ultra sized figures have much to be desired from, especially when it comes to complexity. Leader class seems to be great overall; but only 1 out of the 2 Supremes is really worth the Supreme-pricepoint.

Getting back to my original point, I'd have to stand by my thought that the track record has shown that larger figures aren't necessarily better; they're just bigger. And half the time, they're less detailed and less complex than their smaller buddies. So yeah, my vote would be to keep Classics to just Deluxes and Voyagers. :thumb

I'm all for more characters as well as new molds but personally I could do without larger class sizes.

I already broke the bank multiple times collecting behemoth Cybertron figs and though I love em I really don't see a point in making them bigger than voyager class. The only exceptions of course being Primus and Metroplex.

That said with the scale Classics are now I can easily buy the entire first wave in one paycheck and two I can pose them all comfortably in a lot less space. Win/Win. :thumb

besides Devastator...do you think we'll see anything larger or is Classics around only until the movie toys start showing up?

I'd love to see

Ultra-Shockwave

Leader-Sky Lynx

Supreme-Omega Supreme

A Shockwave would be sweet. Hasbro can't say anything now about not putting out a figure with a gun mode and I don't think anyone could ever mistake Shockwave for a real gun so there's no reason not to make one.

Once the movie hype machine kicks in full throttle then I'm sure Classics will start to fly even faster. This ain't the Universe line folks, I think it will be here to stay for awhile. Old fans who haven't seen them yet will stumble across them and that little kid in them will light up again. Movies tend to have that effect on people.

The real bad thing is that the scalper activity will probably also shoot through the roof.

I'd also like to see a new Fortress Maximus. Hasbro says they couldn't re-release the original...fine, give us a new one then. It could be the same size or even a little bigger than Unicron and that would be awesome.

So many great figures that could be updated, it's just way too hard to choose between them. I'll just welcome them all and hope that more will keep coming.

I wouldn't mind repaints of past A/E/C homages to G1 figures, but really done in G1 colors:

I like this idea. :clap

Since Takara is going to make a MP05 an actual gun, I hope Takara or Hasbro will also listen to the fans and just remake the whole G1 line. :tfevil

I'd love to see an updated G1 Omega Supreme... and Devestator of course... not that crap repaint that their calling Devestator though.
