Anyone else stripping down their collection??

Recommended Posts

I can't see my self thinning down/selling my TF/GI Joe collection. But maybe some of my other random things here and there that I picked up just because they looked and were decent at the time. But stuff I don't have room for, I take some of the older figures and put them in a storage box in the hopes that when I move out of my parent's house, and find a place of my own, I'll have a little more room for my collection as I see fit outside of just my bedroom.

I think "refinement" is a better word. I've been working hard to refine my collection... the only problem is I have a hard time parting with stuff once I have it, even the real turds.

I would say every Japanese release from 1987 to 1992 could definately be called "stripping" :P

i packed alot of stuff away that i realized i cared nothing about once classics and t!ts started coming out. But i haven't gotten rid of anythhing yet, but i'm pretty sure i could lose all of A/E/C and not be too heart broken.

My collection is very small (about 4 alternators, 4 BTs, MP OP, Predaking and a few TRU reissues), so I am reluctant to sell what I have. But I have not bought any new figures in a long time.... I catch myself being very picky these days.

The lack of space, the prospect of moving and generally being poor all contribute to my lack of buying.

Well I'm starting by putting a some stuff in storage boxes and then keeping a strick rule of what I'm buying next. At this point since the Classics autobots are so impressive to me I'm just focusing on Autobots for now, no cons.

That will keep my collection cheap and complete. I just get only autobots (no repaints) and I will have only spent $80! wave one is forty w/ prime bumble and Roddy. The next forty is Jetfire grimlock and mirage.

The line is rumored to go into 3rd wave with cosmos and then cliffjumper (repaint here) and if the pattern is still the same another voyager.

But then again there are no more autobots worthy of being a voyeger so we might get two more deluxes. We might get a jazz or prowl sunstreaker or sideswipe.

I just change my collection - I have limited space so as i get new stuff in I have to look at what I have and see what goes next!

(I also have a girlfriend who loves flea markets - so occassionally get a load of new 'things' that often need thinning right out..

'Thanks, yes lovely!! - mind if i sell 95% of them? :)'

I'm due a thinning out soon...

Tamed down a bit, but that is all.

Thought about it but no. Besides, really what's the point it's not like I'm going to make even half of what I spent back. Also I'd probably miss some of em in the long run. Having collected most of A/E/C and various other lines including Universe, reissues, Rid, Alts etc, etc I pretty happy with it for the most part.

With Cybertron basically capped. (I'm also committed to buying Supreme Starscream now :redface ) my thinking is it will probably be the last line of it's scale for a while so may as well go out big with it.

As for buying now I'm simply going to limit my buying to new Alts (whenever they show up) and Classics. Literally everything else until the movie comes out can stay on the shelf.

*Is now tempted to buy LOCs........resists*
