Rodimus VTS: In G1, Micromasters were created to conserve Energon. This technology evolved into the Maximal/Predacon Upgrade that we see in Beast Wars - hence why the BW TFs are smaller than G1; they're more energy efficient. That's why Megatron referred to the G1 TFs as "archaic Energon guzzlers" when he first infiltrated the Ark in the second season of Beast Wars.

Looks at sig.

Sees no real need to comment about my preferance or my opinion on this mold.

Okay.

MUNKY, NOT TRUKK !!!

(and)

MUNKY 4evah!!!

Ya know... gorillas aren't monkeys. (they're apes) *ducks*

It's funny... I used to be all about the "Trukk not munky!!!11"...

Then I got a Universe Primal for cheap. Man, that mold's an amazing figure. Poseable and believable in both modes.

I personally don't like the TM Primal look nor toy, but the original and Optimal Optimus are amazing. The 2 BM Primals are kinda ulgh, but Air Attack Primal is great.

I think that the original Primal and OpOp are on par in greatness (toy-wise) as MP Prime, THS Primes, and Cybertron Prime... AA Primal maybe as well, but I just don't like how he looks kinda like an ape in both modes... :P

AAOP is *almost* one of the best Transformers ever.

Yeah, if it wasn't for the pink monkey ass on his back in his robot mode mooning at you.

i never owned original primal, had megatron though and he rules and the transmetal version i owned primal and got megatron later (and broke the flimsy arms off in less than a day :redface, the plastic is better on the armada repaint)

i like primal and hope the reissue leaders make it over here

I just could never get over the fact that they progressed smaller rather than larger. I mean if you take the Alt line as scale comparison the RM beastformer figures are pretty close to scale for real animals. So why would giant robots in a war for eons choose to be smaller rather than larger?

The same reason you have a desktop and laptop PC, and not a room filling one from the 60s.

Also why choose to walk/run everywhere when you used to be able to drive or fly everywhere?

Plotwise: It wasn't so much a choice as it was an option that wasn't available. Let's count how many semi trucks and tanks are prehistoric Earth. As for the "What If?" of how Hasbro intially planned Beast Wars to be a sequel to G2...ya got me.

Not to meantion that stupid energon over load from being in bot mode around the energon crystals too long.

Too much of a good thing. The energy crystals were the 120 watt light bulbs to the Maximal's 60 watt lamps.

Well when was the last time you sent your PC into battle. As for the plot wise there weren't any trucks or cars on prehistoric earth comment why would that matter after all the bots on Cybertron were all beastformers. You'd think that a planet full of machinery would be a rather un animal friendly place. I think the energon over load was just a plot devise to keep them from staying in bot mode all of the time.

I always thought that comment was like how people say that the older giant cars from the 50's 60's 70's and early 80's giant gas guzzlers. Of course most of the older cars had much more horse power than the most of the modern ones do. Just as the older bots from G1 had much more power than the BW's bots. Thus the reason why when BW Megs got free on the way back to Cybertron and took control he replaced all of the beastformers with Vehicons. Hmm if he hated the "archaic energon guzlers" so much why would he bring them back to replace the so called high efficiency beastbots?

Ya know... gorillas aren't monkeys. (they're apes) *ducks*

Well, it's not like I know anything about animals, but uh...Gurilla/G'rilla (whatever) just doesn't have the same ring to it as Munky :P

Whatever gave you the idea that the Maximals and Predacons still on Cybertron were beastformers? None of the shows have given hints to the altmodes of the TF's on Cybertron. Actually, the only truly canonical information we have, is Megatron pre-T'rex robot form and it really doesn't look like anything, but certainly not a beast.

As for other sources, Furman's Ultimate Guide lists that Megatron was a battle platform on Cybertron, while Primal had been a Monster Truck. The new Botcon figures kind of follows this, by giving Megatron the CD Red alert mold while Primal get the Crumplezone mold; the rest of the characters are all given vehicle modes as well. In the recent BW comics by DW/IDW there also doesn't appear to be any beastformers on Cybertron.

Rodimus VTS: What are you talking about? Megatron never brought the old TF designs back. The Vehicons are still the same scale as Maximals and Predacons and not to scale to the Autobots and Decepticons. In fact, in Transformers Universe when the Autobots return to Cybertron they look positively gigantic compared to the BMTFs - like the image of Sideswipe, Sunstreaker and Trailbreaker just towering over Cheetor.

If you'd recall, when Micromasters were first introduced into G1 it was clearly stated that they were created as a means of conserving Energon. At the end of the Great War, Rodimus Prime pushed for all Transformers to undergo the Maximal Upgrade in order to become more fuel efficient, an upgrade which most Transformers underwent. We know that Ravage underwent this process and was rebuilt as a Predacon. Rodimus Prime (who renamed himself as simply "Rodimus") underwent this process too, although he retained his Autobot identity and later led the new generation of Wreckers during the Beast Machines era.

Also, iirc the BW DVD audio commentary also mentions that the BW TFs are more fuel efficient than G1 TFs.

It doesn't matter if they transform into beasts, vehicles or trees... the fact is that they are smaller than G1 TFs because they're based on a more fuel-efficient design.
