do the Classic toys seem small to you guys?

Recommended Posts

Benson Yee's gallery of Classic Hot Rod shows that he's smaller than the G1 version. Bumblebee is scarcely bigger than a basic. Optimus is smaller than G2 Laser Prime. is it possible that Hasbro has to make the standard sizes smaller to compenstate for the fact that Takara is not sharing the costs of production for them?

or could it be that large transformers are for babies

hot rod is one of the tallest g1 bots in his class so that is probably a bad comparison, the average g1 carbot is smaller than the 6" titf

Another potential explination: the recent increase in the price of oil.

1. Plastics are derived from oil, and

2. Hasbro mentioned at one of the recent BotCons that a majority of the cost for their toys wasn't in the actual materials but in the amount it cost to ship them from China.

Therefore, considering both of those items: to sell toys at the same pricepoint they have to get smaller.

channeling Hornet or something, Trench :tflaugh ?

Well he does have a point...the price of oil kind of affects everything. But usually when that happens, companies pass the costs onto the consumer.

I think Smithy's right...the G1 bots were pretty small. These are just fine.

BTW the saw hand on Hot Rod gives me a g1 stiffy

Just don't get it too close to your Night Viper

That's why I added "at the same pricepoint" bit.

Although, while we have evidence that a couple of them are on the small side we don't know if that's across the board. And, they were obviously always going to have Bumblebee be basic-sized so he'd be smaller in proportion to the others, which is why he comes with that jet-ski whatever.

he looks bigger than pretender bumblee though, even sans seedoo

Bumblebee should be small, I almost think classics BB is a tad too big. I like Op's height, i'm guessing Megatron will be about the same. Rodimus & Astrotrain I think should be a tad bigger, and i'm guessing Starscream/Skywarp/TC is going to be the same height as Astrotrain. But generally, as long as most of 'em are the same height difference, it'll be OK. I do hope that they do a Classics Rodimus Prime & Galvatron at the leader height point though.
