Movie Megatron?

Recommended Posts

I can't believe I actually read all 14 pages of this gheyness.

Any of you remember the fact that EVERY studio initially passed on Transformers?

Or perhaps that the BELOVED G1 DESIGNS are over 20 years old, and were specifically designed for a cartoon/comic book?

Or perhaps that the general public doesn't give a flying f*ck about a movie based on an old toy line?

I love G1. LOVE it. I also love these movie designs. LOVE.

All this bullsh*t about "THIS IS NOT MEGATRON/PRIME/STARSCREAM" has gotten to an insane level of stupidity. Freaking get over it already.

Best post ever. :clap

My thoughts.

So, does anybody else care about who all got fired from production this time........Didn't think so. :tflaugh

First off I totally see David Kay voicing this Megatron. The head for some reason or other is for me anyway giving off this huge Armada/RID vibe. Only more evil and stuff. As for evil. Megatron has IMO never in recent memory looked this badass. I honestly thought Blackout was going to be what gave the kiddies who saw this nightmares but I was apparently mistaken. As for him not being recognizable as Megatron I have to almost agree. IMO every Megatron in the Armadaverse years though completely different was in one way or another recognizable as a decepticon leader. Though I do see a bit of Armada Megs in the face design the overall design is much more how you say streamlined, and complex. This is definitely on par with the rest of the designs two running themes. Alien & realistic(for transforming alien robots anyway)

Though I wouldn't mind hearing Kay do the voice work Welker is definitely better for relaying the militant general Megatron was without sounding BWs/Armada cheesy. Sorry but seeing this absolute badass stomping around and talking to himself would altogether detract from the evilness being represented here. JMO.

No, no. Leave them in. This way they will suffocate.

I think that an AWESOME idea to made all the Decepticons look like evil alien invaders but, wile keeping the Autobots with some resemblance to the faces we all know and love. :thumb

And beside there hasn't been a Megatron with any resemblance to G1 character we all know (beside the classic toy) and may you guy not forget Cydertron Megatron (Galaxy Force Master Megatron) had devil horns and look more like Unicron then Megas. So, stop b*tching about the design of the movie characters and wait for the the Movie to come out. :tfmad

So that's what happened to Evangelion Unit 08

he even has a Bezerk mode....

I want his toy, but it will probably be like a Beast Machines figure and will be vastly different from the in movie character design-wise because there is no concievable way to pull off thatt ransformation

Awesome Post.

This Post is made of God & Win!!

IT HAS! My thoughts: I feel we all have a choice to see this movie or not. Despite my voicing my disapointment (which is what forums are sometimes for) I will still let my curiosity get the better of me and see this....the way I saw Tristar Godzilla. It's only after you spent the $10 movie ticket that we truly have the right to Starscream.

Agreed, man. If it sucks, you can believe I'll be on you guys' side of the picket line.

Me, too. I'll make the signs. With glitter. :thumb

But we owe it to them to see the movie. For every MOTU movie adaptation, there's an X-Men. We just don't know which one this is, yet. And all the online petitions in the world won't turn one into the other.

But Transformers is a brand built on reinventing itself every so often. We should give this reinvention a solid chance as a whole before we ask for Bay's head on a pike.

All this nitpicking tiny pieces of the puzzle just makes it less fun to be a fan. And, without fun, what other reason is there to be one?

Bolded part = VERY true.

Transformers has had 5 different era's. Each era started with a change in the direction for the brand. Bear with me here guys....

Those 5 Era's are:

G1 Era - 1984-1991

G2 Era - 1992-1995

Beast Era - 1996-2001

The Second G1 Era - 2001-2006 (includes RID, A/E/C, Alternators, Classics, Heroes of Cybertron, Titanium)

The Movie Era - 2007 (and beyond?)

So we're looking at about 6 years for each era, of course G2 only had 4 years since it failed to bring the brand back to life.

G1 is self-explanatory.

G2 tried to revitalize the brand but failed and somehow managed to last for 4 years.

The Beast Era was a radical shift for Transformers. I've read and been told that the Beast years were not pretty for the online fandom. Most fans of G1 couldn't stand Transformers being all animals. Ironically, the angst against BW and BM has subsided in recent years with more peopel accepting it. Nevertheless, it was a radical change at the time but turned out to be great for the Transformers brand.

The Second G1 Era came about with the introduction of RID followed by Armada, Energon and Cybertron. During this time we also received Alternators, Heroes of Cybertron, and the coming Classics line among other things. Everything in this era honors G1. This is noticable with the designs for characters. You can look at them and see the G1 resemblance for most. Nevertheless, 2001 brought about a new era for Transformers in which G1 is honored in every line.

And now we are at another change for the Transformers brand with the new movie. Indeed it's a VERY RADICAL change for Transformers. Autobots are still robots in disguise (their vehicle modes ARE human vehicles) while the Decepticons are robots that refuse to adopt Earth forms. The robot modes look extremely different than what we are accustomed to, yes. Regardless, what we are seeing is the direction Transformers will be going in for the next few years, assuming that the movie is financially successfull enough to have a sequel greenlighted. It's a change that is setting off a new era for Transformers. It can all begin and end with 2007.

:rofl

Oh and fantastic post EM. I just really wish all fans could see the same logic as opposed to believing everything 22 years ago should still be the standard today. :roll

today i have been mostly wanting

MEGATRON TO HAVE A BLOODY ARM MOUNTED CANNON, NOT AN ARM THAT CHANGES INTO A CANNON.

I'm trying hard to live with this new vision, its always hard at first. But it feels like they are deliberately trying to alienate the existing fanbase in this instance.

Yes because that makes lots of sense... :roll
