goki is wrong this thing is plastic,

I got my information from the official site - click on the link tab that says "Dodge RAM" for a description and pics of the KISS Convoy toy ... or perhaps my understanding of メッキ is confused... I thought it meant die-cast but perhaps it means something else. Dictionaries translate it as meaning "plated" or "guilded" - maybe it just means that the parts have chrome but are still plastic. Could another Japanese speaker please confirm/deny this? Haggisman... anybody?

Btw, the CD is narrated by Genda Tessho (Peter Cullen's Japanese counterpart)!

P.S.: I've already placed an online order for this toy, so I guess I'll be finding out for sure if this toy is worth it - the toy is costing me just an extra $20 more than Alt Prime - an extra $50 including postage... it will by far be the most expensive BT I've ever purchased and one that is obviously sparking a lot of debate over whether it's still better value for money. I guess I'll find out when I get the toy. :P

Good luck, but it has pretty much been confirmed that this is plastic. I might one day pick it up if I can get it for maybe $30 or something, but I really doubt it. At least once you have it we will know absolutely for sure about the die-cast.

Yeah, everywhere else I'm seeing now is saying that it's plastic. I think I mis-interpreted the meaning of メッキ which appears to simply refer to the chrome and not any metal. Gah.

Still, here I would pay AU$45 for an Alt Prime and KISS Convoy is costing me around AU$56. Postage is going to cost approx. 1380JPY (AU$15). So really, considering that even including shipping I'm only paying an additional AU$26 (US$20) for KISS Convoy, it's pretty much even value for money (the average price of a CD is AU$27).

I already have the Alternator prime, so I will not be buying.

TRANSFORMERS KISS PLAYERS CONVOY: This version of Convoy comes with a

Melissa PVC figure with surfboard weapon, and also a 'Drama CD' which

presumably plays radio clips from the Kiss Players radio promotion in

Japan. We have verified that this version does not contain die-cast metal

body panels as past Binaltech releases have, but its still a nifty set

with all new 'PG-13' anime-style packaging. Available now for $69.99

And they are still wanting $76 for it shipped. I am willing to bet that Joel is going to take a bath on that one if he ordered more than just a few.

HLJ.com has it for less.

I'll be bringing my Melissa to work and put her sitting on my PC monitor for all to see her :P

PG-13 anime style packaging? :schin

Even BBTS know the horror that is kiss convoy.

spazzboy is right. I'm also getting mine through HLJ and as I mentioned before, it works out to be the same value for dollar compared to ALT Prime. (actually, KISS Convoy works out to be cheaper by $1; $29 cheaper if you deduct the cost of postage and the CD (thus comparing the raw value between the ALT Prime and KISS Convoy figures directly)).

But yeah, even with the additional cost of the CD and postage, it's no better or worse value than ALT Prime.

I'm actually getting this, frankly because I just like the new paint apps, and the price we have here for Alt Prime is only a small difference.

Still, I hope this does very poorly. Two things can happen: Takomy will drop this lame concept and go back to the real Binaltech series, or they kill this line off after Hot Rod. With Classics and Titanium, I almost don't care about BT/Alts unless Takomy steps up.

I just received mine today.

it's really better than alt prime, paint apps etc..

and marissa is the nice added detail...

I already have alt prime, and I'll sell him, don't have any interest anymore on him...
