What do you do when you can't find new toys?

Recommended Posts

you could always try not buying something for a while

easier said than done'd

in that case you're a compulsive buyer and that's unhealthy JMO

I am saving money, it's licence plate renewal month.

I'm more pining for this due to the following reasons:

1) The classics release is coming up soon. And I know that once those start shipping, I'll never see Cybertron figs again. (Indeed, this is what happened with Energon, I had to buy my final piece of my buildtron gestalt through ebay for $20).

2) Alternators, obviously, is starting to end.

3) As I said, there are other collectors in the area. As such, a mentality of "OMG he'll get it first and put it on eBay!" exists in my mind, as bad as it is. =/

Oh.. and Primus. I want to get this stuff out of the way before Primus hits, as that'll eat up my TF purchasing budget for a month or two.

i have the same problems as you man and i have no advice....but when you figure it out id like to know...even worse no targets or tru so umm ya

2) Alternators, obviously, is starting to end.

wtf?  how so?  Mirage and Rumble aren't even out yet, and they're the first releases of their resepective molds.  Not to mention all the 3rd body releases we haven't seen yet.

sadly, this is true

actually I'm surprised that we haven't seen a third RX-8 yet

Or, you could order online and just not bother going to the stores again.  The extra charge of shipping plus any markups will be negated after you factor in the amount of $$ you spent on gas to keep driving to the stores and finding nothing :tftongue

What to do when there are no new toys to buy.  There’s lots of things you CAN do, these things may require some skill, patience and an amount of time.

The things I do are:

1. Write or draw comics and or fan fictions.  At least the general brainstorm idea.

2. Create something, either a simple repaint or all out custom TF project.

3. SAVE money and pay off debt, so when the next wave hits, you don’t have to feel the pain of price so much.  (Primus???)

4. Change the collection shelf, clean up, re-arrange things.

5. Write an article about a PRE-TF toy that isn’t covered elsewhere.  Works for me from time to time.

6. FAKES, delve into the bizarre TF universe and wonder…why is Mirage yellow and purple?

7. Grab a couple parts lots from  The Bay, or a flea market and try and fix some.  Warning, may lead to customizing.

8. Make a list of what you have, and what you may want, then go search for it.

9. Read some TF comics

10. Rediscover something related from the past, like the TFQ2 game.

11. Chat in places like this with fellow Transfans.

12. Try and plan a trip to a TF related convention.  Meet some fellow fan’s…

13. Purge if possible.  There comes a time when you might acquire too much stuff, might be a good start towards thinning the numbers of lesser desired items.

Alternators ending?  BITE YOUR TOUNG!

I havent had a new toy in a Month. Nemesis Breaker Was my last fig. Until I can find MetroPlex in Walmart or get $40 disposable dollars, Classics or Alt Mirage might be my next purchase (which ever comes first.....when ever that might be)

My Walmart fits the original post.

I'm not a completist collector.. and note I said "starting." As in the release schedule is thinning out, quantities are getting smaller and more specialized, and the ideas are starting to wane thin. Perhaps I am basing my opinion on Takara's backing off the line as well.. Or maybe it's because I know the Alternators line will morph into the movie line when that comes next year.

Regardless, I don't buy remolds for my alts much. Only one hound, thank you very much. =P

I'm betting the rerelease of Meister is what's pushed that back. The 3rd Mustang was the one being rumored to come out next.
