What do you do when you can't find new toys?

Recommended Posts

Okay.. I'm getting sick of this, and I need advice.

My local Wal-marts suck at restocking and moving shipments. A few months ago, they were GREAT at it... they'd overstock their shelves, put out things at any cost, and stuff would always move quickly. But lately, their stock has been languishing, almost festering.

I will still check them daily (and today, I found the SW vs. TF sets, but I already have some of the figs included in it and the price wasn't in the computers, so it didn't get bought), but.. both of them have at least 4 Alternators on the shelves from 4 months ago (one of them having 5 skids), both of them have at least 4 CD Red alerts out from Christmas, they suck at restocking Sigma 6 figs, and they don't have any of the newer minicons or scouts...

About the only thing they keep up on is the $10 and $20 price point items...

So. How do I convince/force my local Wal-marts to shift around stock? I'm so terribly worried that I'm gonna miss Optimus Prime, Mirage, Menasaur, and Quickmix.. (Primus I'm not worried about, save for getting a Unicron variant).

It just burns me to know that there might be stock sitting out there, destined for my stores, that I'll never see... =/

...go to Target instead?  TRU?  Somewhere less inherently amoral?

No new Transformers on the shelf is why I now have a Titanium Star Wars collection.

See, I've already exhausted that. I have quite the SW Titanium collection as is, but that's only because it's the only way you can buy the SW Capital ships and big things. And indeed, I'm almost through buying Nerf guns.

I should have added -- my local Targets both also are in a similar position, where they are overstocked with stuff that refuses to move (IE stuff I already own), and can easily be classified as "ancient." But what's worse, the local targets have put up signs saying that they refuse to look through their back stock, "in order to be fair to all customers." They have become amazingly hostile to the local collectors, of which I'm sure i'm not the only one.

TRU, besides charging $5+ more than anywhere else, is similarly overstocked, only with about double the stock of old stuff. Hell, until recently they still had Alternators in the old red packaging! The only thing they seem to get in stock before Wal-mart these days is Sigma 6 figs, and even then only for the bigger commando stock... of which nothing new has been released in a while.

Save money.

that's what I should do.

instead, I suppliment my lack of new TFs with armored core and spawn figures.

you could always try not buying something for a while

easier said than done'd
