WOW! Those pics make it look even better.

This is SOOOO preordered! :clap

static.gif Go Starscream Go! static.gif

BTW: That sidewards looking pose looks badass!

Also, I noticed that the thumbs on the hands got changed for the better as well.

As MUCH as I liked the first one better, I wont be passing this up as long as Ive got the extra money to spend on it, I still think that if they made a hybrid of this proto and the last then they would have it perfectly. Also, someone said that they couldnt get to cockpit into the correct place. Why not??? they could make it so that the part that is supposed to cover up the lower part of the cockpit in bot mode flip down then back up to hold it in place then why couldnt they do it? Oh, and his head still sits to high above his shoulders. :tfmad

how can anyone pass it up?

this is the Blot.  It looks more realistic, and has all the G1 Flavour I need but with poseability this time.

Poo on you if you disagree

I think complaining just reinforces your fanboy'd view of making him worse in your eyes.

Wait, you're saying I'm complaing as a way of convincing myself it sucks?

Let me clarify.

This isn't an Alt (allegedly), this isn't a Hybrid, it's Masterpiece, a representation of the character we knew.

I've admitted here and elsewhere that if it was released as an all plastic high end alt I'd be all over it.

I've also admitted that if it's parts were detatchable I'd be all over it.

But at the Masterpiece price, I expect something that is to G1 Screamer what MP Prime was to G1 Prime.

$100 isn't exactly small change.

And it hasn't even been stated that while some detractors say that Starscream's robot mode doesn't look so great, Prime's truck mode is also nothing resembling his G1 version.

All Transformers are the robots.

The vehicles are the disguise, they're secondary.

Again, lines like Binaltech/Alternator put the vehicle mode first, which is fine, but people keep telling me this is no BT, it's a Masterpiece, a figure from a line that put the robot mode and G1 (or line it's from) likeness first.

This is the part I don't get w/ your line of reasoning...there is just as much detail in robot mode (from what I can tell from the pics) when comparing MP-03 and MP-01. Much more detail than any Alt/BT would have.

INDEED

And I think both modes should be represented as fairly as possible. This as good as it gets, and it's GREAT. Go hire your own Japanese designers and Chinese workers if you disagree, otherwise this is your only option. And to complain about a good-looking toy like this is what makes me dislike talking about transformers online :tdown

Masterpiece Prime is not show accurate, we all know that.

He is however a blend of show, comic and toy, so he's the defenitive version of Prime known prior to the figure being made.

They actually could have improved the vehicle mode, they could have added things such as the machine gun gas tanks we see on the THS, they could have maybe bulked up his waist, armoured up his arms, reinvented him, but that would have been at the cost of the G1 resemblence.

Then along came the first Starscream mold and it did the exact same thing.

It wasn't show accurate, it was toy, comic and show mixed.

He was the ultimate version of Starscream known prior to the figure being made.

The second Starscream mold then changes that.

It's reinvented, reimagined, redsigned.

That's not something I mind when it's in a line that sells on that, such as the Alts of which I own more than are released here, or THS02 of which I own 3.

But when it' supposed to be the definitive G1 Starscream, and not just a vehicle for the "artist of the month", then that's another thing altogether.

This is no longer G1 Starscream, it's Kawamori Starscream.

All of the sudden those that genuinely aren't keen on his style have been turned off the figure before knowing it was his work, all of a sudden a shed load of his fans who had been indifferent to it before because they don't like Transformers are pre-ordering this guy.

Some of his fans are more excited about this than most TFans, even the excited one.

It's a geewun figure that appeals more to an artist's fans than the geewunners themselves and you can't see the difference?

And I think both modes should be represented as fairly as possible. This as good as it gets, and it's GREAT.

Actually, the first mold was as good as it gets in my opinion.

The second mold has more of the maker's personality than the characters.

Therefore those who are fans of TRANSFORMERS but not his style (or not the two combined) are not going to like it are they?

Maybe next you can go Starscream at someone for not like a Pat Lee posters 'cos they don't like his style or something.

After all, if the subject is Transformers we have to like it apparently. :roll
