I think he's also saying that the Valkyrie design, while not a real fighter, is nevertheless a pretty friggin sweet looking jet... it looks like it *could* be real.

Having looked at these pictures again, I now have unqualified praise for the changes. In fact I would call them refinements.

Replied so I can ask which real life jet, exactly, are the Valks supposed to be models of?  I was under the impression that the Yamato toys were based off of the designs for the original series/movie.  While those designs certainly took cues from existing aircraft (like the F14), I've never heard anyone (or rather, anyone with any credibility) claim that they were intended to replicate real-life jets.  The Yamato toys are damn near dead-on representations of the animated designs.  How does MPSS having a "more realistic" jet mode have anything to do with that? :wtf

that's just it, the valkyries don't transform into real jets. by making Screamer's jet mode more realistic, it helps set him appart from the valkyries.

I would have thought the whole fact that it's not a Valk, or a mech, but a hugely popular character with a personality did that already.

And I'm not saying that solely as a TF fan either.

I actually have a few Macross figures, from the THS sized to a regular 1/55 scale Valk.

Their appeal is totally different to Transformers, both from a design point and what they are.

Does anyone think that it will even get a US release?

I do.  Alts are being sold in the US sucessfully and I think Prime did OK despite some shelf warmers out there.

I think he will have less/no diecast and be a significantly lower price point (30-40) and be released possibly as part of a high end line of alternators (possibly with tank megs).  Just my thoughts.

The figure looks great.  I slightly prefer the newer version dispite the added waist kibble.  The arms and jet mode look a lot better IMHO.  Before he looked like a rough proto, now he is starting to look like a final, real Masterpiece.

To each their own.  If you don't get one, that's just one more for me, and I'll be getting a couple.

I think I'm going to not be a douchebag fanboy and reserve my comments for the final product.

It does look sweet though. :P

I am surprised no one have done a colorjob yet. I'm sure once coloredd, everyone will see this is G1 Starscream, and not a mere bot transforming into a jet.

I actually started colouring it but lost interest as it only reinforced my view.

To me it was like looking at Alt Hound; same alt mode but updated, show accrurate face, but new, different, not G1.

G1 based, but not G1.

I wouldn't mind that at larger Alt price, but at the Masterpiece Price, I expect G1.

The idea of someone think this figure is basically an Alternator makes me raff heartily.

But in an ironic way, right? 'Cuz it's really not that funny.

In a way that only a guy that keeps a eHobby anime Astrotrain MISB to spite a fellow Tfan's member can.

You cant be serious. Besides the waist flaps, He looks like he jump out of the TV screen and into a more realistic body.
