Hobby Japan August 2006 MP-3 Starscream Article

that flaw is the Alt line is all about taking the G1 guys and giving them bodys based on new cars.

I know someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but to the best of my recollection, the original purpose of tha Alt line was not car specififc.

Fans had wanted more articulate, more detailed robots with realistic Alt modes and that is what the Alts were originally about.

It wasn't just a car line.

This isn't right Hasbro introduced the line as a licensed Cars line. Later on they said they were interested in branching out. Just look at the name "Alternators" I cant call Walmart and as about them with out them sending me to Automotive :redface

geez, I read all these comments and I started freaking out a bit.... then I actually looked at the pictures you guys were talking about

:roll

cosmetic differences... if you guys are gonna get bent out of shape about that, then whatever

I still want him and would deal with that but, You dont think it looks silly?

Cosmetic is changing it in some superficial and small ways, different eye colour and so on.

Cosmetic is the difference between Alt Prime and Alt Nemesis Prime.

This has got more angular legs, chunky arms and a retarded waist, they're pretty big differences, change the whole appearance of the figure.

It's inevitable that the changes will make it a figure some don't like.

Moreso after showing the original and showing us what we could have had as a comparison.

I'm not seeing it.

Meaning that I do see the differences but I think it's a wash. There are some things I like better about the original one; there are some things I like better about the newer version. So what.

BTW anyone who buys MP Starscream so they can keep him in robot mode.... I don't understand that at all. One of the things I've wished for for as long as I've been into Transformers was a Decepticon jet that actually looked like a jet and not a robot that was sort of squished into a jet-like shape.

Okay, I can see where you're coming from, but these changes did make me rethink how much I'm willing to pay for him...he's definitely not worth $100 anymore IMO.

Now, if he gets a stateside release as either an Alt. or as a 20th Anniv. edition figure (basically at a much lower pricepoint) I'll get him.

However, I no longer consider him to be a "Masterpiece" figure.  Too many Starscream edits to Starscreams' bot mode for a 100% perfect jet mode makes me cry. If I wanted the perfect jet I would get a model jet kit....an 85% accurate jet mode was good enough for me.

WTF are you people smoking?!? Seriously?? "Now it's no longer a Masterpiece"???? What the hell is the matter with you people?

The seeker's jet modes were great, as a kid.

It was the robot modes that left something to be desired and if anything looked like jets forced into crappy robots.

Also, the robot is the character, not the other way around.

And as others have pointed out elsewhere, he was realistic. He resembled the F15-C.

A squarer one seated fighter plane.

The new changes make him an F15 Strike Eagle, a version that came around in '87 and has extra curved panels.

It's also a two seater I believe, so it's lost a little realism there.

*Awaits someone to correct him*

all of you need to remember that in the japanese market, MP-Screamer will have to compete with Yamato's Macross Valkyries. by making MP-Screamer's vehicle mode super realistic, that would give TakTom an advantage over the Valkyries, who's vehicle modes aren't all that realistic.

I don't know of any version of the F-15 that was a one-seater...

I was really into military jets and model airplanes at the same time as I was getting into TFs, so the :Dc jets were mega disappointing to me... they just sucked IMO.

And really, you guys are acting like they just cut off his legs. come on
