It would be kinda nice if we could get a solid continuity going.  With the cartoons refreshing, the comics refreshing, I'm worn out.

 

Hopefully IDW can keep the comics regular, and the series following the movie can last for a few years.  and I don't mean last like armada did with energon.  i mean last like BW did between seasons.

I agree with c717905 -- I'd like to see a series in the same spirit of BW/BM, adding to the over G1/G2 lore and working on levels to appeal to simultaneously appeal to multiple audiences. People who watched BW as kids would've enjoyed it for quite different reasons compared to people who watched it as adults -- not only because of G1/G2 references, but also because of the mature story themes (e.g.: Transmutate) and sexual innuendo (e.g.: Rattrap asking Silverbolt if he'd had found any "new positions").

A redone G1 series could work, i recall seeing a redone He-man cartoon a little while back that i felt was superior, while still faithful to, the original series. So there's no real reason they couldn't do a new version of G1 Transformers.

my opinion only thats when transformers were at their prime time at their peak I think I mean optimus is known as a truck with trailer not a gorilla and megatron as a gun not a tank etc...I think kids appreciate it also in general maybe im wrong, but thats what im saying....

Recent comics have been doing a good job IMO

What you are starting to face with Transformers (ending its 4th/4.5 TV continuity) is what comic books face all the time.. Only accelerated, because TV shows need to keep the interest of people with far shorter attention spans.

 

It's normal, and you are always going to be wishing for the "good old days" until a strong, competent writer comes along.

 

I personally consider comic books to be the modern-day equivelent of the troubadors and bards, telling the same stories but with slight variations. (I think I had this concept developed before watching Unbreakable, but I cannot be sure). That said, cartoons evolved out of comic books for the most part, especially action cartoons. You'll note that the Japanese form tends to go for one-offs that last a season, and are encapsulated.. Whereas the US tends to favor ever-continuing lines that get changed and re-shuffled.. Although there are exceptions on both sides.

 

It's just a fact. The art of keeping kids interested dictates the retelling of the story, slightly different each time.

 

 

It's part of why I plan someday to become a fanfic writer and make my own versions of the stories. ;-)

Race car... Okay that one was stupid but still, he looked cool.

A handgun is actually an excellent icon of evil,( lets face it it's easier for people to get a gun and shot someone than it is to get and drive a tank over them ).

Concerning keeping the characters and their modes the same, that isn't a bad thing to an extent, as it makes them Iconic, like Superman or Batman,who have changed only gradually.
