Do you think there should be Star Trek Transformers? 37 members have voted

  1. 1. Do you think there should be Star Trek Transformers?

    • Yes, this idea has never been done before. There has been Star Wars and soon Battlestar Galactica, Trek should also have a place in the Transformers universe.

    • No, the idea is not very good. Star Trek should not have any TF's.

Fan made ships or ships that only feature in novells don't count IMO for a topic like this. I seriously doubt that should a ST-TF line come into existence, they will use ships no-one but a "few" fans know.

P.S. unless Calhoun lost another ship, the Excalibur featured in the New Frontier novels is a Galaxy class (he started out with an Ambassador class). DOes this mean they screwed up continuity again in the novels? (There can't be a newly designed Excalibur class without the USS Excalibur being the first ship of that class.)

Some of the things you say are incorrect, an Excalibur CAN be a Transformer. So can a Sovereign or a Galaxy class, any Federation ship can be a Transformer and Shuttles like the Delta Fyler would make great Minicons. Sure the Excalibur isn't a very popular ship, would anybody care? The Excalibur's an awesome and powerful ship and to many fans, that's all what matters really.

I was thinking of making a character like Jetfire a Prometheus or Sovereign class. Hotshot an Akira, Defiant, or Saber. Red alert a Olympic or Nebula class, and uh Scattershot? Maybe a Steamrunner class.....

Megatron would make a awesome Dominion Warship, and Starscream a really good Norexan (Valdore) class. Thundercracker would go well as a Galor, Keldon, or Dominion attack ship. We could also have a Decepticon transform into a Borg Cube, and one Transform into a Diamond.

There are tons of ships in the Trek universe that will make awesome Transformers, you just gotta find a way to make them Transform them right. :thumb

Gotta say as a Transformer fan and a Star Trek fan (who is into the series a bit more for the ships than the people in those ships): No sir, I don't like it one bit. I personally feel that Optimus transforming into the Enterprise (robot mode looks like he is wearing a trek uniform with OP head) is a bad idea. I'd also hate to see any of the ships transform into Trek characters. An Enterprise D that transforms into Picard—ewwwwww!

To all the guys who like Ds9, it sucked. Its like putting the show Seinfeld into space and adding pointing characters. Think of Jerry's apartment scenes. Thats my feel of DS9. it basically all takes place on that space station. I havent seen every epsisode but they never went anywhere.

Seasons 3-7 were much better than the first seasons. Especially the war with the Dominion.

:tfmad but I liked Seinfeld in space...

It's not just that you haven't seen EVERY episode, you clearly haven't seen most. Starting halfway through the third season, the writers also realized that just staying on the station until something came along didn't make for an interesting series and they created the need for the crew to get a ship, the USS Defiant. Starting from that point they regularly left the station. When the war with the Dominion broke out, the majority of the cast left the station in the final of the fifth season (when it was conquered by the Dominion/Cardassian forces) and didn't return until well into the sixth season.

But until the Defiant came into the series I agree that DS-9 was a very lame show. Afterwards, it slowly but steadily became magnificent. DS-9 was even hailed by critics as the best Star Trek show ever and the best SF show at the time (the last title is now held by Battlestar Galactica). Justified, in the opinion of most fans. (I hated DS-9 initially and only later came grudgingly around. I've recorded everything on video from the start of TNG, but it was only from DS-9 that I decided that I wanted the best quality available and bought the DVD (#4-7).

BTW (back on topic) this still doesn’t mean I feel that a ST-TF crossover would work (or should even happen). I don’t think that these designs are suitable to make good TF’s.

Blah, blah, blah, lame ideas, blah, blah, blah...

Blah, blah, blah...

... And rocklords proved that a (borg) cube will also work.

You just lost any credibilty you might have had by using Rock Lords as a positive example of anything.  The only thing that Rock Lords "proved" was that transforming robot toys could in fact get even lamer than GoBots.

And, for the record:

Star Wars TFs suck.

Star Trek TFs would suck even more.

I seriously doubt that anyone here could draw a feasable design that would prove me wrong... and yes, I said "draw", not just talk in fanboy-rantspeak about how "the Shatner Class starship could easily turn into Prowl by having the retro rocket boosters flip inside the warp processors and become the arms and the inertial whoosey-whatsits could flip out and be the legs and the holodeck could make the torso and the galley could turn into the stomach because that would be funny..."  :roll

With all the talk of what class ships the TF's should be, I think that if they wanted to do something REALLY interesting, they should come up with totally new and wild designs for ships.

This aspect alone gives me an better twist on the whole fan fic story.  If I had FREE TIME I should sit down and write it out.

Basic idea beyond the banter, these ships start showing up, and they have no idea who they are.  Unregistered classes of similar ships to the respective armies...but unknown.  More powerful in some respects, quicker response time, faster, stronger ships that come out of nowhere.

Now we're cooking.

If they DO make them, please let the Defiant become one of the first they put out!
