How to get the smoke smell out?

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't go spraying them wiht any chemicals personally.  Just sit them in a pplace where they can catch a light breeze for a day or so.  Heck even if its jsut a shelf in a room with a fan, they jsut need to air out.

If there is any yellowing try the vaseoline trick, it can actually remove some light yellow if its caused by age.  If its tar stains from the smoke though your pretty much out of luck.

i always wondered why they said that on ebay.....and i know who you got thme from lol...i had the same problem, but im a smoker so it doesnt  bother me as bad,but when i opened said package i smelt it if that tells you anything...... i never realized that they absorbed smoke like that.........

though my suggestion is try febreze and let them sit...the stuff is made not to stain

what kind of cigs do you smoke?

my mom used to smoke mid brand lights and couldn't hardly stand it @ my mother in law's kuz she smokes cheap fulls, i adjust in a day or two but after i get home... god...  i can't stand to wear any of the clothes i took with me for a good 3 or 4 days.

I went to a Bingo game *No I'm not 60* they had a non smoking section but that was a big joke. My clothes still smells like smoke.

If you receive a toy that stinks, then it's NOT BLOODY MINT. I would demand recompense from the seller otherwise leave Negative Feedback for misleading description of the toy. If there are any defects with a toy, including its smell, then the seller ought to bloody well mention it, because if a figure stinks, then it does effect its collectability.

As for smokers - as a TV campaign here says, "Car and home, smoke free zone." It was mainly targetted at parents to reduce the exposure of passive smoking to children... but as we all know, cigarette smell just gets infectuous. Even living with a smoker is annoying, because even when they smoke outside, the smell follows them inside... it's stuck on their clothes and everything they touch. Not as bad as smoking indoors but.

Also, I believe that reserach suggests that cigarette smell is carcinogenic.

The worst thing about smokers is that they are vehemently selfish when it comes to their dirty habit. I was at a pub last friday with a mate, and these three ladies were smoking at the next table, despite the fact that we were sitting in the non-smoking section!! Gggrrrr!!

:tfhuh That doesn't make a lot of sense.

Anyway, I think it's awful to discriminate against smokers (I mean, it's kinda sad if you can't go at least 30 min without a cigarette, but). I don't like the smell, but whatever.

Oh, I also think its stupid more people lobby against cigarettes than alcohol. Smoking kills one person...drinking can lead to a lot worse.

*ends soapbox*

So I've been thinking about getting a crappy yellow Jetfire to rub some Vasoline in it. Yay

:pfx  Absolutely hate smoking. :tfmad

As for toys infected by smoke. Yep been there with items from Ebay and otherwise. I was fairly lucky though with my last haul because for the most part it was fairly recent stuff so no real issues and the one that was older I only needed a replacement piece for. It's incredible how something like cigerette smoke cas entirely destroy a toy over a period of time. White is perhaps the worst imo. Maybe later I'll post some comparison shots about what I'm talking about. :thumb

Yes I agree with that, but he said it was in mint condition so I didn't think about that.also he said smell had nothing to do with it being mint

alot of times a smoker won't notice a smell because smoking does damage your sense of smell and taste, at least to a certain point.  that being said, they should tell you that the item has been in the home of a smoker, but is otherwise in mint condition.

here lately, in the us, people have been lobbying HEAVILY against smoking in public, but imho, ppl need to stfu.  esp when it comes to smoking outside.... i mean wtf?  unless the wind is blowing in your general direction you won't smell it, and as far as studies go, nobody can make up their bloody Powerglideing mind.  i'd also like to point out that the most famous study, the done by us officials that states 2nd hand smoking is cancerous, was PROVEN to be a fallacy.  this was covered on the Showtime show "Penn and Tellers: BullBlot!".  http://www.sho.com/site/ptbs/prevepisodes....pisodeid=s1/shs and just like somebody already said, ppl worry too much about smoking when there are far worse legal vices that cause just as much annoyance/danger to others *coughalchoholcough*.  also, this whole smoking ban thing is getting rediculous.  it's now illegal, in some parts of the usa, to have a party inside your house and allow people to smoke.

as far as the whole pub thing, i think that it should be up to the pub/restaurant/bar owner and i don't think that it's something that the govt or state should be able to control.  however, if your going to have a non smoking section, SEPERATE THE DAMN ROOMS!!!  i've been to a few restaurants that have done this and it seriously works.  i hate it how alot of retaurants say they have a non smoking section, when the dining area is just devided by half a wall.  it's re-Powerglideing-tarded.  but yea.... it should be the owner's decision to make, if you wanna smoke and they dont' allow it, go somewhere else, same goes for non smokers.  if you don't wanna be around smoking, don't go to said bar.

first of all...it's alcohol not alchohol. second some stupid show thing is not going to prove second hand smoke to be harmless. Doctors have proven that second hand smoke-if exposed to alot of it- can have the same effects on a non-smoker to someone who smokes heavily.
