It was featured in pretty much the last cartoon and as ghey IMO as it was that makes it official. :roll

As for Megatron. His alt mode though constantly changing and altered always seems to leave him with an identafiable bot mode. Colours aside you look at any incarnation of Megatron (mainline) and he is imediately recognizable. If the head design and arsenal of weapons don't give him away I don't know what will. Also IMHO nearly every incarnation of Megatron since the days of G1 has either been an improvement or been nore badass than the original despite colours/alt molds.

Becuse Fiction>toys.

then you won't mind giving me all of your tf toys in exchange for some old G1 videos :roll

I really liked Energon Megatron and Galvatron was just pefect.

Cybertron Megatron I am not too keen on and Galvatron seems odd. Sure the colors match G1 Megatron but he does not look anything like him and is called Galvatron.

As for Prime. I think it would be cool if they tried something different but I do not think he is becoming old or stale. There are plenty innovations with every Prime.

flip cybertron galvy's horns back and he looks like g1 megs more :P

Becuse Fiction>toys.

Hardtop, Armorhide, Wreckloose, Dark Scorponok, Cyb Swindle, Swerve would like to have a talk with you.

I assume it was not put into the manual as it would give a spoiler for the end of the series.

Anyway, I dont' mind the many faces of Megatron/Galvatron.

X-BoB: Saying that fiction>toys is just your opinion, not a fact. But, you are right in that if the death cannon mode occured in the cartoon, then yes, it is official cannon.

No, the instructions may not mention it, but the cartoon has expanded on it... it's not even a case of retcon because it isn't really changing anything.

Besides, if we're going to treat the instructions - especially the Hasbro instructions - as unchallengable gospel then technically, in the picture below, "A" is the correct transformation for Sonic Convoy (sorry, I don't know what his Hasbro name is) and "B" is incorrect, because according to Wing Sabre's instructions, "A" is correct... they don't tell you to raise Prime's faceplate nor to open the breastplate.

bucket head and a bfg!!!! as long as he harbours a weapon of mass destruction with unimaginable destructive power!!!!

how bout a decepticon symbol? he's always had that.

Megatron, on the other hand, has varied quite a bit. I can't help but feel disapointed when I see new incarnations of the decepticon leader, as he doesn't seem to carry much over...

Pretty disapointing indeed. Though I have enjoyed (to a certain digree) how the "new" Megatrons look. The G2 tank(s) were the closet it get to look like the Gun megatron.

I really don't care what alt mode he is anymore, as long as it's war-mongering (not a race car),

That's the reason I am not too thrilled about Cybertron Megatron.  Race car doesn't look belligerent enough for me. >_:tftongue) but military-themed mecha is very appealing to me. Besides, Megatron is a warlord! :Dc \m/

Is there anything the rest of you out there feel Megatron should retain each time he is re-designed for a new line?

Gun/scope, helmet, chestplate and color scheme. That's all I ask.

I want a BIG F#@$%G ARM CANNON too!

The F#@$%G applies here, Brother Decepticon! :Dc ^_^

That's the good thing about Megatron. With Megatron, you can play with new ideas and concept, while Optimus Prime stays old and stale.

You have a point there. Not having to base the design upon a pre-existent one simplifies the work. But still I wish new Megatrons look more like the old one.  In the case of OP I agree he would need a radical make over, but I like him more the way he has been. I want characters that bears the "Optimus Prime" brand to resemble the G1 persona.
